I've been wanting a small wheel attachment for my Burr King, they cost like $59079087908 or so and they're a lot of work to change out. BK is great but they're really set up for shops with more than 1 grinder and each one dedicated to a specific set up.

I got a Bader small wheel yoke (think it's a Bader) in an Iron in the Hat drawing at a forge meeting and carefully applied some redneck engineering to some scrap metal and a tooling arm off of an old grinder. Just remove 2 bolts and it's on and I don't have to remove the upper idler/contact wheel from my knifemaker's attachment.

No more using mandrels and drums. :D

That's slick Will

I bought the small wheel attachment back when it was only $5907908790.75 ;) It works well and gives a nice tight radius... but you're right, it's a real pain in the neck to change it out.

That's a great idea you had! I think the tighter radius you had to give up is well worth the added convenience! I learned to do a lot of stuff without the small wheel, even after I bought it (about two or three years after I bought the grinder) because it was such a PITA.

Great work Will! :)

Impressive bit of redneck engineering there Will.
Keep that up and you'll be forced to turn in your redneck card for being too professional. :D

Looks great, one thing you may want to do is get some sort of sleeve for the upper wheel, maybe a derlin cover so that the grit of the belt doesn't tear it up and then you would have to replace it.

Very cool project Will.I agree will you about the BK but I have a seperate small wheel grinder. Here's a little table setup I made for my BK since it is pedastal mounted. It's fully articulating and also holds my water bucket.Dave:)
