New toy and family addition

Glad to hear that Sadie was able to go back with her dad and you now have doggie peace reigning in your home. Those terriers got that name for a reason. I'm dealing with the absence of a terrier mix who had developed serious health issues. It seems to get a little better with time, but not much. Best to you and your household.

Sadie made it safely home after a very long day. My brother said she laid her head in his lap and went to sleep as soon as she got in the truck at the airport :). Chapter closed...

Thanks BC... I guess it'll happen when it is supposed to.

Stick - I hope your Terrier gets better!

Thanks for the good wishes AC. My post was cryptic and I was commiserating with you as it appears that Buddy is gone. I had to let Cookie, my terrier mix, go in August. The vet tried but couldn't help her and she was beginning to suffer. I certainly miss her and always remember her as happy and active.
All the best to you and yours. Thanks again.

Rick

Wow! a great story. Sorry for the disappointments you ran into.

............................................................................................................

I'm surprised no one asked if that shotgun operates in the 40 watt range!
:D

Great advice on door security Yvsa! I keep ours locked all the time, and I lock the screen doors at night to give an extra layer of time/noise in case someone tries to break in.

We are trying to buy a house now. and the upgrades you mentioned will be part of my early renovations if we get into one.

The house we are looking at is near a gun club that hosts 3 gun matches occasionally, so I may need an 870 of my own soon. Or I could borrow my son's for a while!

My own tastes are increasingly towards the simple, in guns. i have a Contender carbine on layaway right now. Always wanted one, for the backpack gun concept.

Take care all!

Tom

Hi Rick... I just re-read your post and did a face-palm... I just didn't catch it the first go-round. Sorry to about your Cookie passing. Buddy passed in Oct. I'm actually beginning to remember good memories of Buddy during conversations now... so the healing has begun.

Graver... I'd love to have a house right next to a gun range! Good luck on your house search. My dream is to have enough property to be able to set up a range in the back yard... someday I'll get it.

I'm thinking of taking off the Knoxx stock and going with a short LOP Hogue stock instead. That'll lighten up the shotty some too. I like the Surefire forearm though... I don't have to worry about grabbing a flashlight if I need to investigate something at night. That actually happened right after I finished building this 870... got woke up by some bumping against the house about 2 a.m. I went outside and lit up one of our urban deer munching in my flower bed along side the house... his antlers were bumping the siding :).

Oh, the 40watt upgrade just wasn't do-able. It cost too much to re-charge it every night. My electric bill is too high as it is :D.

Well, the house is not right next to it, but a short drive.

We made an offer, and they accepted it, so we are moving forward on it. It sits on 1 acre in an agricultural area. We might be able to plink with 22s there, or perhaps quiet subsonic centerfires!

Take care,

Tom

Grats Tom!! That is great. A short drive IS right next to it in my part of the country :D.

Thanks!

It's a big old farmhouse, and we are getting part of the loan for renovations.

With 5 kids, I figure we have good odds on some grandkids eventually.

The job is still going well, time to settle down for a spell!

:D

This concludes the hijacked portion of this thread. I'll start a new one soon, when we are further along. T
:)

No problem AC. I wasn't clear in my earlier post. I am saddened by your loss of Buddy. Hopefully the people and critters around you will help fill the void to some degree.

Isn't it remarkable how close our pets intertwine into our own lives? Since she has been gone I've come to understand Cookie was showing me important things to me like watchfulness, tolerance and unconditional love. Things that I always felt that I knew of and yet now I have new perspective on. I have been blessed. So have you.

Love and peace to you and yours.

Tom we also keep our screens locked during the day as well. There are a few times when the main door may have to be opened to communicate with someone outside and having the screen locked gives a bit more time to close and lock the main door. ;) :D

When you do get your new house be sure and check the security recommendations for doors and door frames and install them, if at all possible!!! And while you're at it check and install the recommended window locks and screws!  :D
