After sending off teh first slayer, I had wished I made 2 :) This time the kinfe has a wider belly, longer blade, and 0-1 with a working etched finish. YThe handle material is Blue G-10 with black liner and stainless tubes to use a laynard while chopping if desired.

Knife is 18" overall and 59.5 RC:thumbup:

I love that blade shape Brian. Did you put bevels on the clip of yours? It doesn't look like it in the picture. I think it looks even better without the bevels. I also think O1 is a better choice for this knife. Either way, great work man.
 
no false edge on mine. I dont prefer them anyway.:thumbup:
 
I will, I may try and finish it today if I can.....I have the scales ground back flush to the tang so its almost there :) I am trying to figure out what the best sheath would be....its pretty long to wear around the belt. This knife may live in my back pack more than anything.
 
Brian nice blade shape i like the recurve, it will look better in o1 with your trademark
transtion line imho.
 
I wish I could get that hammon on this size blade. Too darn big for my torch to keep the temperature right. anything over the 8" in length I need to fully harden to make a good edge holding blade. I dont use clay so I just make the whole blade hard. I get to use the rockwell tester that way also:thumbup: :D
 
well.........I got her done. I really like the blue color :)
You can see the spine tapers good for a nice stick :)

Hope she works as well as she feels :) Sheath is later on :)

I've been thinking of doing myself a big ol' chopper. What's the thickness on yours there? What thickness do you use usually?
 
this stock is 7/32" - I dont like 1/4" and normally use 3/16" but with a blade this wide I thought I'd try something a tad thicker:thumbup:
 
Thanks Brian! 1/4" has always seemed to me to be overkill, but I'm no expert. I'll pick up som 3/16 stock and go from there :)
 
That is one good looking, big knife. I like the blue G-10 handle. It goes really well with the colour of the etched blade.
