Just wanted to share my joy with you guys, as I picked up a new heat treating oven from Paragon today! Specs you say? Chamber Volume: 0.89 Cu Ft. Width: 13" Depth: 13.5" Height: 8.75" and gets up to 2000 ... which sounds a little big and on the cool side but at the price I paid, it sure made sense. Anyway, here she is: (she did have a sister that was huge and went up to 2350 but alas, even if the funds are there, the space/room is not)

Money well spent! Congratulations! I love mine, in fact it's cooking some damascus as I type this. Is it 110v or 220v?

Sweet heat treat oven, love to have one of those, still working with a homemade propane torch. I am more of a hobbyist so maybe a heat treat oven later down the road.

220v is the way to go. When I ordered my KM-14 I got it in 220v and had it set for 2350 degrees. I don't know if I'll ever need to go that high, but I'll have it.

I was in a bit of a bind and needed an oven within the week so there was not much of a choice to make when this one came up but I'm sure happy with it. I'll be picking up some foil tomorrow and playing with it a bit. The 2000 limit isn't bad as I don't plan on doing anything too crazy in the near future but in the coming year I may have to purchase their "dragon" oven. ITS HUGE. My whole oven could fit inside of it. :) Had I the shop space for it, I would have opted for it, especially at the stellar price they had posted.

*Heck, hopefully this isn't frowned upon, but if it is, please let me know and I'll edit it.... but that huge oven is priced to move quickly, shoot me a PM and I'll share my contact information.

This thing is huge and runs to 2350!

Oh yeah, if any is interested, here are some shots of the Paragon factory. If you own one, here is where your baby was born.

That looks to be a burn-out kiln or other type lab/shop kiln ( enamel, glass, fusing, firing, etc.). The 13X13X8.75 are pretty standard chamber size for casting flasks and taller art pieces. Kilns made to hold knife blades rarely need more than 4" of head room.

Yours should work well for basic smaller knives in carbon steel.

The oven will work well for carbon blades, but won't hit or hold 1900+ well at all (the top rating is always a bit of hype).
The other thing is 13" somewhat limits the blade size it will HT. While you can put a 16" blade in diagonally, blades heat more evenly sitting straight in the center with a little room on the ends. I would think 10" blades will fit comfortably.

I'm not saying that it is a bad oven, It will serve you well............ just that soon you may wish you got an 18" deep oven with stainless temperature capacity ( 2350 rating).

I was originally looking at their 18 or 24 models that are rated for 2350 but being in a severe time restriction limited my options. This oven will be heat treating a large batch of 52100 blades well under 10" so it is "manna from heaven," right now. :) I do agree that a larger oven would be much better and when I get out from under this order, this one will be replaced with one of their double barrel models. :)

As far as hitting 1900... after setting it up on the cart, I plugged it in to test it and it hit 1950 and held for 15 minutes without any issues. :)

Good, I'm glad it will work for you.

As to the top temp, the bigger companies, like Paragon, have evidently learned that making claims that won't hold up isn't good for business. Years back many companies claimed a top end that the ovens just would not attain and hold.
