I finally broke down and bought myself a new anvil. I have been using a VERY used and sway-backed Hay-Budden.

This one is the 260 lb. Model 110 from Old World Anvils. When you hammer hot steel on this thing, the steel moves like it is supposed to.

Terry at Old World Anvils was very helpful in answering my many questions, and the service was outstanding. I ordered it on Thursday, and it was delivered yesterday (Tuesday).

Nice.....Isn't it amazing what a difference a good anvil makes?

Now get to work! :D

Nice looking hunk of heavy iron you got there, Robert. Have fun!

Sweet...
But I really love that japanese style hammer you have on the stand, You make that yourself after Fogg insisted we all should have one? :)

Very nice! I'll keep wishing for now.

Robert,

What a beauty! I have never used a "real" anvil. Just an old sway back.

I know you will enjoy your time, spent, using that fine hunk of steel.

Cool, I didn't even know there was an anvil dealer up here.

Actually we have two of them that I know of Centaur Forge in Burlington, and Old World in Blanchardville. I saved a ton on shipping and drove to Centaur and picked up my forge, anvil and other heavy stuff a couple years back. If you want to get an anvil from there someday, I could always pick it up from there and meet you with it somewhere that beer is served :D I can be to Blanchardville in about 1.5 hours max. The price of gas being what it is these days , I'd have to clear that with the Financial Consultant ;) -Matt-
