New "Traditional Knife" Exchange Category (Was: Slipjoint Swap Meet)

Elliott, Spark, and the other mods: big thanks to you folks. I'd love to see it back, in whatever form it takes.

~Chris

Okay gents...hopefully this new category in the "exchange" will be found useful by those of you with Gold and Platinum memberships commensurate with personal selling on the forums as well as those looking to find and add traditional knives to their collections.

Enjoy yourselves and send some good mojo Spark's way for getting it done. We'll revisit further changes and amendments as needed down the road.

(I'll contact Spark re the typo. ;))

Yes - big thanks to Kevin, Elliott, and the others who made this available.

Always feels like family taking care of us here.

Fantastic news! it got a little hard trying to follow threads with traditionals for sale in the general classifieds.

Unfortunately, when I joined BF and got addicted to the traditional subforum, the 'Slipjoints swapmeet' had already been closed, and I'm glad to see that a new opportunity is being given to all of us who are fond of traditionals. I'm looking forward to it and I want to thank the Mods of course.
I have one question for the Moderators and I'm asking it here for the only reason that I assume other forumites might be interested in this.
If I understood it right, the new section is dedicated to the (Gold and Platinum) members who want to sell their traditionals. I'd like to know if we could propose to the seller to trade their knife instead of selling it, and in case we can, if that should be made on the same thread, or on PM. In case we can't, I'd like to know if it will be possible to have a 'dedicated' section on the general exchange section where we can trade only traditionals.
I don't intend to cause any headaches to anybody here, and I really want to thank Spark and Elliott and Gus for the way they keep BF (and especially this subforum) a place like a living room where friends discuss their common passion.

Fausto,

Some members that have a knife up for "sale" may be open to trades for a knife or knives representing commensurate value. Generally they will say so within the text of their post.
It would not be wrong to contact the member privately to ask if they are amenable to a trade if there is a question in your mind or if you happen to know that the member may be interested in a particular knife or knives.

There is also the "Knives For Trade" section of the "Exchange" which is where any member (regardless of membership level) may offer a knife or knives for trade.
Money cannot be involved in the exchange and any violation of the rules would be dealt with quickly and harshly by Spark and the moderator staff for obvious reasons.
At this juncture the "trade" section does not provide for different categories and sub-classes of knives.

I have discussed the option with Spark to have "traditional knife" oriented categories in the various exchange venues and it was determined that the current area is the one that needed to be addressed most immediately. Spark left the door open for us to revisit additional changes as we go forward. Obviously it makes a certain amount of sense that those supporting the site financially would have their needs and concerns addressed as a higher priority.
(This is not meant to convey that all members of any given membership level aren't equally valued for their contributions to this site.)

If you need further assistance feel free to reply here or to contact myself or Gus directly. I hope this helps answer your questions.

Edit To Add:

Thanks to all for the good words on behalf of myself, Gus and Spark.

Elliott,
thanks for ur answer. You did answer my question perfectly. I appreciate your efforts towards the 'traditionalist' wing of the BF.
And even if I'm no 'old' member here, it didn't take long to appreciate the way you, Gus and Spark run this forum.
