New trail/pack knife

I think that is a great "pack knife" !

O1 is a great "slicing" steel when done right, and, sure, it will rust....but this is a user, and carbon steel knives have done the job for a couple thousand years, so...

I figure Nick will be able to "restore" it if needed :p

Really nice looking knife - except the same thing that bothers Lorien bothers me too. I like the guard except for the front side of it. Sadly, I don't know what to suggest to make it look better - round the corner a little? Put a bit of a hook in it?

Great looking little knife anyway, though.

Most of my fixed knives are small knives. With one exception.

I like small knives, I can use them often. In in the kitchen, to eat, or take one with me during a ballad in wood, I could always cut a piece of wood for my children.

I thus like this small knife, but like Lorien the "little finger guard" gene me visually.

Surement as he said, "The 90 angle where it meets the ricasso"

But it is only my opinion. ;)

Clean - I like it . If you do decide to make a stainless version why not go a step further with some CPM S30V or maybe S35VN ? Just a thought , nothing wrong with 154 CM -

CPM4v.

Nice knife, bro. Sorry to hear about the frustrations - sometimes ya just gotta walk away for a bit, right?

Lorien's observation is only partially right, I think... if the plunge of the grind had a sweep to it (rather than straight), and finished just in front of the 'guard' it'd look a bit more balanced. Regardless, it's a great looking little blade. What's the overall length?

Well, I thought I'd follow up on this a little bit and show I'm not quite as pig headed as some guys think. ;)

I made this with the little guard originally.... obviously many folks didn't care for that part of it. While there was some functional reasoning behind it, I have been working hard for the last several years to make knives that have pleasing lines (along with many other things, but aesthetics are the point here). And many of you guys were right, that little guard stopped the eye at that point.

Thank goodness for ceramic belts and variable speed. ;)

Thanks again for the input and support guys! :)

we have us a winna!

Is it Gaarsonizing, if it's done by the original maker? ;) :D

I like this version better, Nick. :)

...hmmm, seeing it now, I think it looked better before . Put the guard back on.

:D

Matt- This reminds me of the barber saying, "Well, I can cut it off, but I can't put it back on."

I told him if he had the right super glue, he could. ;) :D

Thanks guys :)
