I was looking to replace my S&W model 620 which had been stolen 10 or 12 years ago but I couldn't find one anywhere locally. I put a S&W model 686 on hold for me at the 'gun & pawn' yesterday but when I went to pick it up I changed my mind and got this Ruger SP101 w/ 1-5/8" spout. Cute ain't she!

After chatting with the owner yesterday and putting the S&W on hold for me I swapped out for the Ruger today. I picked out 200 rds. to feed her and laid the Washingtons on the counter. A quick phone call to whoever it is they talk to when you buy a gun and out the door I went with my firearm and ammo. Elapsed time: 25 min. I love this country!!!

This NAA 380 Guardian is a nice piece, quality wise, and had served me well but is a brick to carry and, even though you have six rounds to throw at the bad guys it's still only a .380. .380s have killed a lot of people so I am not knocking this round.

The SP101 is a damn fine revolver.

You maybe less one round but the trade off for stopping power and versatility is worth it, IMO.

I need a .357 :(

Thanks for sharing.

Nice snag there Mhawg....I really like the grip and pointability of the SP101.

My Roscoe is a 2.5 inch S&W 686 in .357mag. It was passed down through a generation, and I'll pass it to my son when it's time. IMO the 686 is one of those "timeless" firearms. No matter how old they get or how many generations they pass.....the 686 is always loved.

Call me a nut... but I love the weight or lack of.... of a S&W 340PD or 342PD.... in the front pocket and dont even know it! :-)

10.8 oz.... yikes! Sweet.....

Well it ain't a GLOCK (G19G26 kinda gives that away doesn't it), but it's still a nice piece. Congrats, bro

I do love a Ruger revolver. Trying to find the "right" deal on a LCR currently, if I could stop buying INFI:D Do check on Gemini Customs, what they do with the SP101 is functional art.

Sweet little Ruger! I love the Rugers. Even with my small hands they are comfortable. Nice score!

I havn't bought a wheelgun other than Smith and Wesson in about 15/20 years. But I've come close on a small SP, and will prob wind up with one.

I don't think they make a tougher small revolver than the SP.
Great looking gun!...Thanks for the pics:thumbup:

Do you remember the "From the wonderful world of General Electrics" T shirts with the m134s?

Love to get one of those (the tshirt I meant, thought I'd not mine the gat either) these days.

SP101 is a GREAT gun!!! I now have two of them, one like yours and one that has seen the Gemini Customs treatment.

Good...now send that 101 away to Gemini Customs. ;)

Does anybody miss the single action option once the hammer is 'bobbed?' It's not like I'm going to be picking off bad guys on the ridge 1000 ft. away, I know. I understand about the hammer catching on clothing but, you know, once it's gone it's gone for good. Just wondering.

I don't think I would ever "bob" a hammer so much that it couldn't be manually cocked. I can see slimming it down a bit, but not chopping it off entirely. I prefer shooting single action. That's why my J-frame has the "bodyguard" semi-shrouded hammer. It's ugly, but it works perfectly.
