New TriAd fakes, beware!

I guess this belongs here as well, mods will decide. :thumbup: We have been years seeing Spyderco copies, SOG copies and Cold Steel copies from those counterfeiters. New batch now, they're trying to copy the TriAd lock.

These sell at half the real deal's price at some Chinese sites (that one that starts by DH--- is one of them, mother***), so maybe we'll start hearing complaints about crappy TriAd locks and locking failures soon.

Damn... I thought triads are hard to copy and have never seen a triad fakes...

@Cold Steel - you should start making more knives using the nice American G-10 and your new DLC coating. From what i've seen, there hasn't been anyone who's able to copy that G-10 texture because their G-10 does not have that kind of quality to achieve that. Same goes to that DLC coating. You should probably add these counterfeit example to your website also.
 
@Cold Steel - adding more info about this site via the whois lookup, might be helpful for your legal team to track them down. However they are located in China so it's doubtful that there is anything that can be done...

Yup, they started selling clones of the Recon Tantos, Trailmasters and bigger blades. Then they copied the Tuff-Lite, Ti-Lite and make bad pseudo-Rajah II and similar crappy copies.
Now they go for the Rawles and TriAd, the shameless pricks. I guess we fans spot the faux G10 and handle materials easily, and can tell "fake" just from the pics and knowing there's no uncoated Rawles Voyager or Black coated Clip Point XL Voyager, but it is a shame for those uninformed who will inevitably believe they're getting the real deal.

It makes me real angry to see this, God. I wish they're soon caught, but those Chinese MOFOs sure know how to hide behind their laws and regulations.

least that dirtbag site shows the steel on the voyager and camping special deal fakes as 440c even though it's got xhp and bd1 printed on the steel. doesn't make it any better, but none of us are uneducated enough on cold steel and steel types, etc to get duped. now these resellers who import these and try to hustle folks on eprey and a big south american river site, etc and such....

yep buyer beware of too good to be true pricing. once again another reason to only use the good dealers......

fyi, i have a friend who owns a pawn shop and got into big river selling. he tells me he....... was importing stuff from china by the pallet to sell on river site through river site. river site does the work importing it, selling it and bringing it in, etc and keeps a big chunk of the sales amount or profits etc.........key here is........ he said lots of fake stuff sold as legit sails right through being listed as fulfilled and sold by the big river site. not through for example sold or fulfilled by bill and ted retail inc, on river site. different topic, but i figure important to note when buying a cold steel. be very careful who you buy your products and cold steel though dealer wise. i'm sure, but don't know, big river buys through coldsteel distributors as well, but watch out.......buyer beware routine.

I hate fakes. I know of people who have been taken badly. I hope your legal team can go after them. They are what ruins knife collecting!! It is a dog gone shame!! Good Luck catching them!! Kevin
 
The Chi-Ad lock! :rolleyes: These are all fortunately identifiable as fakes right now (to the trained eye, at least), but like other fakes I'm sure they'll refine them over time. :thumbdn:

jbmonkey, your revelations about A----n are really disheartening. I haven't been burned yet by that site, but I see an increasing trend toward foreign sellers and I'm guessing that it's only a matter of time. (Counterfeit Surefire flashlights have become extremely prevalent on A----n and are very hard to spot as fakes.) It angers me to think that A----n itself might be complicit in (or at least turn a blind eye to) the fraud!
