New Truck Choices

I bought a Toyota Tundra V8/4WD double cab new in 2005.

I ended up putting on a lift kit, bigger tires and a shell with a bed rug inside.

Zero issues and I still drive it daily.

The new Tundra looks great, and would probably be my top choice if I were in the market for a new truck.

I've been driving a Dodge Ram Crew Cab Hemi 4x4 for the last couple years and love it. I was really wanting to buy a Tundra, which are made on the other side of town from me, but just couldn't pass on the value I got in the Ram. I put on a matching camper shell, Yakima rack, Bed Rug liner and keep a locked down Yeti in the back. Strap down my kayak, toss some gear in the back and I can go and just about anything except park in a parking garage which I am OK with. When I need to haul landscaping material, dump brush, move furniture, etc. I just hitch up my utility trailer.

I typically buy 1-3 year old vehicles from individuals or brokers to maximize the bang for the buck. Regional pricing can make a big difference, so might as well use that to your advantage. I bought my last truck and my wife's Acura MDX from a broker in a smaller town less than an hour away and probably saved at least 10-15% over dealers closer to me. My BIL bought a VW Turbo Diesel for my niece in Michigan and flew her up there from Texas to drive it home and still saved a decent amount.

I have a 86 Hilux diesel just like the one in the video. I am in the process of rebuilding the engine. My parts truck has over a million miles on it. Toyota diesels were sold in the US in the 80s.I have two 86 Ford Rangers wthat came with Mitsubi turbo diesels and a 82 Datsun King Cab diesel.
I have enough trucks to last me the rest of my life but I have been considering getting a older full sized truck to haul wood. My nephew has a auction company that liqudates oil field surplus. I am thinking of selling a few trucks and buy a F250 crew cab.
I doubt I will ever buy a new truck bu I sure like the look of the the new GMs.
