I was thinking about how non-rust-resistant ZDP is and was wondering if sandwiching ZDP between two slices of H1 to make it almost rust impervious? Just throwing that idea out there. Dunno if its been discussed befor eor not.

The ZDP Caly3 is laminated with 420J2, which is plenty rust resistant and yes, I like the laminated blades. With the laminated blade you don't have to worry nearly as much about rust in the pivot, but the edge will still rust if you don't take care of it.
However, most people prefer solid ZDP-189 because it is much more scratch resistant.

Some steels don't mesh well together. You can't just sandwhich any steels you want. That being said. If they could sandwhich ZDP-189 between H1 I would absolutely be on board!!

Good luck with that. The composition of H-1 is not conducive to such an application.
