Appears to have happened. Nice pics BTW.

Got to tell you I am starting to warm up to this Umnumzaan. At first I thought what a butt ugly knife. Now after hearing about this new pivot design with the ceramic ball technology; I am thinking I got to try one out and see for myself. Hell if I don't like it, I can get all my money back on the secondary market.

+1 TKC - smaller one might be a good idea.

You guys kill me saying this knife is 2 big....the small sebi and mhinandi are only good for cleaning your nails and opening the mail.

RNST...i hear that your about 7 feet tall...you should carry a knife atleast this size. :jerkit: ;) :D

I just received a new Unum yesterday from Moore Cutlery. Great place to deal with! I decided I wasn't going to wait for CRK to make a take down tool available sooo....I built a few on the CNC this afternoon. If I get some time later, I will post some pics.

Great looking knife- It is a bit larger than the Large Classic Micarta serrated I tend to carry. I have one concern right off the bat. The clip point seems like it is in just the right spot, when closed as it is proud of the edge of the handles, to start the process of cutting the pocket of my jeans after several cycles of in and out. I don't know that this has been mentioned before. I am probably full of it... :foot: I have noticed a slight "recurve" effect towards the back of the blade closest to the Ti handles. I don't believe this was intentional and is probably part of the sharpening process...meh..I won't personally worry about it as it doesn't affect functionality. Overall...SMOOTH opening and a great knife so far.

Ok...Here is a quickie before I head out with the wife..

The take down tools don't show up well...Must be too shiny for my crappy camera...You get the idea...In retrospect, I should have made the knob smaller to reduce torque that you can apply to the pivot. I will play with it a bit more and refine it...

I was suprised how large these were...for some reason they feel much larger than the large sebbie...

It's weird; my impression was sort of the opposite... Generally, I like what most people consider "smaller" knives. I havn't quite settled on an EDC, but I usually carry a folder somewhere between 7" and 8" overall with a blade 3" to 3.25". I was able to handle both a Large Sebenza 21 and the Umnum at the Blade Show West 2008, and I found the large Seb to be too large for me. The Umnum (despite being a larger knife) felt better in the hand and somehow more compact . Perhaps it had to do with how the weight of the knife is distributed. After all, the Umnum's blade is a bit thicker than the Seb's. Or maybe it was the handle shape? I don't know. For being what I consider a "large" folder, the Umnum was nicer than expected. Cheers folks.

i also like the ergos better on the umnum....i have had many flavor of the week knives that just did not feel good in the hand.

if i pick up a knife and it doesnt feel good in my hand (game over) i dont care how cool it is...its no use to me.

everyone is different....im a carpenter and i have pritty tough hands so i dont have a problem with with knives that maybe a office person that uses jergins would not like. :jerkit: ;) :D

Very nice work !! Can't wait to see the finished product.

Thanks! I am going to tweak them a bit- I will finish this on Monday on my return to work. Basically, I made 4 of these little buggers. It is just as easy to make 1 or 4 on the CNC, doesn't really matter and it is only incremental time. I have 3 left that I was going to give away for the price of shipping. 2 of them have already been spoken for when I finish the tweaking. Bigmark408 and Death's Head as far as I can tell. I am not making a dime off of these and in reality am probably losing money for material and time....But what is a bit of time and money for CRK enthusiasts? What say you? 1st to pm me gets the last one. Anyone else interested in these I will freely give away the Solidworks2008 file in which they were created but the rest would be up to you. If you want to make your own, I believe the hole spacing is 10.75mm and the hole size in the pivot is 2mm.

Ok, I had a few pm's whilst I was out and about...Looks like the last tool goes to love4steel. I need address info from Bigmark408 and Death's Head so that I may get these out. I will let you know what the cost is to mail the package...I suspect it will be under $5.00. Definitely won't solve the crisis in the economy- but it can't hurt either.

I received the Umnumzaan today. Is unbelievable! Im 5'4 with small hands. This knife is not big at all. My experiences, is much easier to open the blade than my small 21 Sebenza and more compact than the Hinderer 3.5 XM 18.
