New Upcoming Knives In A2;Better Than Carbon V ?

I'm pretty excited to see a2 being used again in current production besides bark river and blackjack. the map pricing might hold me back from grabbing right away, but I expect I'll end up with one.

Are the knives in a2 still coming the trailmaster, laredo bowie, kukri etc?on most sites says shipping delay waiting for them to come in but also saying they're discontinued at the same time.
No, they're not coming. There was a problem with getting A2. The dealers don't know anything. See the recent thread "A2 Steel Update" by CS. This is an old thread.

See the other A2 thread for details. To save you wading through 30 pages of fury:

Cold Steel announced that A2 wouldn't happen, and that rather than going back to the O1 they would instead make these flagship knives from 4034. They were quick to assure everyone that 4034 was really amazing and we would love it. This fell apart when posters pointed out that 4034 was, in fact, about as bottom of the barrel as a steel could get while still earning a number, and was generally found in twenty dollar fixed blades and the like. Ouch.

Ten pages of ridicule later...Lynn Thompson decided this would be a great time to chime in, insisting that 4034 (a steel they already use in their lowest grade knives) was exactly what he meant when he said you could trust his blades with your life, and an awesome choice for their top of the line offerings.

Ten more pages of confused laughter followed before Andrew Demko dropped in to say that they had not literally lost their freaking minds,, and they also planned making these knives in 3V one day. That day to be determined.

No one knows for sure why they didn't just go back to O1 or one of the numerous other mid grade tool steels (Demko hilariously suggested that since they couldn't change it to make it better they would instead change it to make it worse). No one knows why they chose this whacky way of announcing these dramatic product changes. No one knows if or when the 3V versions will be available. There are theories for all of this, but no one knows. My personal suspicion is that Lynn Thompson suffered a heat stroke out on his ranch and started sun-addled sh1t- posting until Andrew Demko took a Viking War Axe to his computer-- but we will only know that if we see it in a proof video.

Hope this summary helps. Its intended to be light hearted. And yes, the 3V will be incredible.
