New US Army aircrew survival knife

To me, this one looks more like a giant can opener that anything else... :^)
 
Ugh, My God! I'd almost forgotten the sinking feeling an ugly knife gives me.

Here's hoping those aviators have decent knives already in their pockets!

What will end up happening is each crew member will carry their serialized version of this knife for accountability purposes and their real knife to use. BOTTOM LINE: More gear to carry into battle...
 
I am in the Army and in this weeks Army Times newspaper there is a picture of the final knife that the Army may Buy. It will not look like the pictures posted. I will not go into the full details because the final outcome of this Knife is not known at this time. The Article did say the Knife would go about $40 Bucks. This knife looks better and will make more sense than the one with the big belt cutter on it.
