well mine arrived today (2)
this is a unique SAK imho
it is specifically designed to say the least-i will be keeping it in my car for its designated purpose-and i will be removing my one hand fireman which i kept in the car primarily for an emergency escape -belt cutting and asundry things in the car
without wanting to sound like an idiot - i love the stay glo, and this was an attraction in the locking SAK style to
-but this knife is so design specific that unless you are into mix and match re-configurations-make sure its what you need-for my primary interests of hiking and camping and climbing-the OH fireman is more practical-except is BLACK -which i think is less than optimal for outdoor use where spotting a brightly colored dropped item is helpful-red is good-stay glo is incredible
the saw-is a very secific design-a single line of varying spaced very heavy thick teeth-for glass- and possibly sheet metal-this is one stout set of saw teeth
-yes it will cut wood but not anywhere near as well as the normal sak double toothed model-crudely and with a great deal of ripping bits of wood as opposed to creating sawdust
the belt cutter and saw ends protrude slightly beyond the end of the tool making for easy opening-no need for nails-good for cold tired or weakened hands in the event of injury, fatigue, panic etc imho
the belt cutter, compared with my original OH Fireman- has a dull end peice so you can open it without cutting yourself-good feature
the big OH blade and screw driver lock -the saw 'almost locks' being very firm when in place
ODD DUCK IMHO -not an EDC except for .....a rescue type...imagine that!
case is bright red big loop as noted and very nice- heavy nylon outer with stiff plastic liner
knife itself is kinda hefty
special ordered mine through IRa wood and sons for a very very low price
frankly now that i have two-i think a german style escape hammer with built in razor may in fact be a better escape tool-easier to locate and to handle with an injury or to break glass -i had not been aware of how difficult it can be to break safety glass until i watched a segment on the today show showing cinder blocks bouncing off windows - i can imagine that a great deal of force is required with the end of the knife
