Anyone have any opinions on the new 2007 Swiss Army Rescue knife that won 2007 Knife of the Year? I'm a Firefighter/EMT and I'm looking for a good EDC
rescue knife.
I'm interested in the knife as well. I wonder how it stacks up to the fireman. What type of blade is that? Is it a modified sheepsfoot or does it have a sharp tip?
I too an interested in this knife. I'm not a Firefighter nor an EMS. However, I am always looking for a nice sheeple friendly knife/tool to take on my travels and around water. I don't quite understand the price though. It looks like a modified OHO fireman with a window breaker and day glow scales
A similar Fireman tool will come in around 35-40 dollars. What's with the extra 10-15 bucks?
A related question: Is there a source for dayglow scales by themselves? I'm thinking about just popping on a set onto a different locking SAK if I can find them.
They do seem rather neat, and appear similar at first glance. Stay-glow scales can't be too much more expensive to produce than normal scales...
Maybe the extra dough is for the removable glass breaker and the specialty glass-saw as opposed to the normal wood saw on the Fireman? Truth be told, the two saws look nearly the same to me.
Steely Gunz, rotokid's shop over at SOSAKOnline might have them. I believe he charges 15$-20$ for a set of Stayglow 111mm scales when he has them in stock.
