New vise! If you want it done right....

Last semester I started working toward my machining diploma (fun classes!), and I finished my most recent project last week, and thought it was cool enough to show to ya'll.


3 1/2" machinist vise, definitely a fun build!

Here's a torn apart pic - Everything here I made, with the exception of 1 set screw, and the 4 brass screws for the jaw inserts.

I've got 3 sets of jaw inserts, steel, brass, and micarta for extra delicate objects.

Sweet. What all did you use to build it? Milling Machine, lathe etc etc? (Can you tell I'm not a machinist?)

Chris, I used a mill, lathe, and a surface grinder to finish the flat sides of the jaws.
