New Voyagers Arrived

Just received my Tanto and Clip point plain edged Voyagers (Large size)
1) Both came in in the New boxes with the Grand Prairie address (not Ventura). Also both boxes and the knives themselves have the New CS logo. I was a bit disappointed about that (but definitely not a deal breaker). But both boxes had a pic of the specific model on it. So I’m guessing the New (Old) stock with Ventura boxes and original box/blade logos are already being depleted

2) The Good: Craftmanship appeared to be very good. Both blades centered and most importantly (to me at least), the Triad-Lock unlocks very smoothly:)

Out the door price was just over $80. I used up some credit I had with the seller. So in the end each knife was a hair over $40. I never picked up the original Mini Recon 1’s when I had the chance…so thought I’d get these Voyagers. I can see why it is one of CS’s iconic models…very nice and meant to be put to hard use.

Which of the two do you prefer? I'm torn between the tanto and the newer drop point.

To be completely honest, my edc is a Counterpoint 2….I have been carrying it for years. All of my others knives see very little use or are safe queens. To answer your question, I like both. But in all practicality, the Drop Point is probably more useful just due the blade shape. I’m sure it’s a better slicer than the Tanto for example. A lot of people think the Tanto is less desirable because of the tip. But the Tanto tip is definitely stronger and better for penetration. I would say try the Clip Point and see how you like it. There don’t seem to be a lot of the Clip Points available online at the moment. Perhaps the new shipments have not arrived yet, just guessing.

The tanto is stronger, but the clip point is better for penetrating most things. Better as in does it with less resistance.
I’m sorry….I meant to tell Gramp to try the Drop Point (not the Clip Point). The Drop Point is probably a more versatile all around blade shape.
And you’re correct jux t…the Clip Point is probably better at penetration than the Tanto.

So Gramps, I meant to say try the Drop Point…it will probably be better at tackling different cutting tasks.

Yes, if it isn’t going to hurt your wallet…just get both. Considering how well made they are, it’s a heck of a deal:)
Yes, you are right. It's the sensible thing to do. 👌 Thanks for your feedback and, I hope you enjoy your new Voyagers!

Voyagers rock! A lot of knife for the price-point.
