Ok, so I'd like to buy another watch soon. I have a Casio G-Shock (analog w/solar/atomic timekeeping) that I use and it works ok, but I'd like to hear what else people are using. My price point is about $250 max, althought less would be better for me. ;)

I've heard some bad stuff about Luminox, like the second hand falls off, the gas tubes are not as bright as advertised and tehy fall out, water leaks, etc.

Reactor watches look pretty cool, Swiss movement, etc. Anyone have one? I have not heard anything really good or bad on these.

Suunto watches, very nicely made watch, a little on the huge side for my taste. Not a huge fan of monster digital scratch magnet style watches.

Marathon watches are pretty basic for work. Look clean and uncomplicated.

Orient watches are nice, I saw a thread on here but I'm uninformed on their products for the most part. Sorry in advance if this is a dead horse being beaten.
So, let's hear from you all on what you wear and prefer.

What are you looking for? There are plenty of nice watches in the $200 range. Analog watches are mostly what I wear, but you may find yourself looking for a nice digital one.

Im basically searching for a watch that I can use a nylon strap with, or even a rubber strap. I'm not too fond of the steel bracelets. I tend to scratch everything I contact. I watn something that will last for a while and not die, have hands fall off, have warranty issues, although most watch companies can hassle the warranty process.

Sorry to hear about the Bulova, I had one a while back, not sure where it ended up. Must have been put in storage somewhere.

I have a Victorinox Swiss watch that I've had for probably around 15yrs and it still runs and keeps time perfectly. I paid around $125.00 back then.

I've never had a problem with a G-Shock. Just pick your flavor.

On the other hand, I have had nothing but trouble with my 511 Tactical HRT watch, which costs quite a bit more. :thumbdn:

I did have a Victorinox Field Watch, which I sold recently. A very accurate and sturdy watch with a clear display.

The analog watch that I currently wear most is a Seiko 5 Aviator. It is an automatic watch, it runs a bit fast, but has a clear display and wears very comfortable. The Seiko 5 models aren't very expensive, but quite good.

The analog watch that wear second most is a Vostok Amphibia, which is a very sturdy Russian made automatic watch. It is water resistant to 200m and shock resistant. The Vostok's were the issue watches of the Red Army.

But most of the time I wear one of my digital Casio's, mainly because of the functions. They are good watches and also not very expensive.

Analog watches don't last for me, so I've settled on Casio G-Shock Frogman models.

Screw back and full titanium case.

I'm a big fan of Citizen Eco-Drive. Mine is a little over your price point because of the bells and whistles, i.e., titanium, perpetual calendar. If you stay away from features like those that add more cost than value you can finds tons of models in the range you want to spend.

The Citizen Eco-Drives are great watches. You can get the basic canvas strap / calendar model for about $80 on Amazon.

I think the absolute best buy in the watch world is a Seiko diver with the automatic movement (SKX007, SKX009, etc or 'Monster'). They're rugged, reliable and can be found for about $100 under your price limit if you look around. I've owned several expensive Swiss watches over the years and IMO the Seiko is as well made as any of them were.

+1 for citizen watches. I've had my citizen dive watch for 21 yrs. Thinking about replacing it with another citizen dive watch. They are indestructible.

Citizen Eco Drive. Many great options in that price range. I have this model: WR100 Titanium, less than $225.

There are some really cool ones with carbon fiber bezels!

If Luminox puts you off (my field model has been perfect for 8 years), try out one of the military contract models that you can get at countycomm. I have been thinking about the one with the date window. Simple, rugged, tritium vials.

Seiko divers are good. They are tough but good looking watches and sell for very reasonabe prices. Citizens are also good, especially the eco drives. If you want a digital watch, timex ironmans are the way to go.

my wife got me a citizen eco-drive nighthawk for xmas..kickass watch, good price too and right in your ballpark
