New Web Specials, 118 B&C Personal for example

I was hoping to see a 424...

You will never see a 424 Web Special. I realize that never is a long time. I mean neverrrrrrrrrrr, sadly.

Alternatives: Telephone (email will not work) the Buck Factory Store and insist that they sell you a 424 and when they tell you that none show in inventory ask them kindly to please check again for any 424, including the colorful orange variant. Get one from Canadian Tire in person or from a friend North of the Border.

Oregon, I am curious why not. They just did a 444 recently.

Didn't I just send you one DS?

To answer your question: The 424 model was dormant for a decade when it was revived for our good friends the Canadians a few short years ago. It is unknown who the orange variants were for. Export only. Buck mystery. I would dearly love to see a special run of clear scale S30V blade 424s for the enthusiasts.

Oregon, no, but that is OK. :)

I was thinking, since they sell some across our northern border, it might show up on the web specials one of these days. We shall see!

so is there a delay on the shipping? I got my order confirmed email but never an email that its shipped yet

Sometimes you actually receive your order before you receive confirmation or shipping of the order IMHO.

If you check your order it on their website it should have a tracking number. I have received orders without ever getting a shipped email. Mine are due in Thursday :)

That first knife set on the Web specials is a limited edition they did for Canadian tire.....

I know for sure they had quite a few as a major knife distributor has them offered to hundreds of dealers for $39.95 wholesale!! So that is truly a good price on a
discontinued set.....Also, I am signed up with ups, they just notified me that the order I placed Sunday will be delivered tomorrow Thursday; also got an email
from Buck today saying it had been s hipped...

will the mini alpha and gut hook still be on sale for the next week or so?

It will probably sell out soon. They normally have limited supplies of web special items. A few years ago they had stag handle Vanguards and Zippers with mirror finish that were a steal. They didn't last long.

At least Buck is putting something on the Web Specials again, after a long drought.

I got my delivery email with tracking numbers. Looks like its making a stop at every state on it's way here to FL

A few pics of the Mini Alpha Hunter, 195RWSVP, combo with gut hook model #499 for your amusement:

And the last three photos taken today of, new to the PDX zoo this month, California Condors.

Massive birds. It could pickup the stinking carcass easily.

Here is a two year old boy for scale shown in front of a metal rendition of the wingspan of an adult CA Condor. There is a rehab. facility for ill Condors in this state. They are treated there for lead poisoning. CA has adopted unleaded bullet rules unlike Oregon which has not. Condors eat the gut pile left behind by hunters who employ lead bullets and get lead poisoning which has become the major illness and threat to these huge birds of fame. This is the first time I've seen this bird. They used to reside in this state but they will not be reintroduced until the lead issue is resolved.

The Mini Alpha with gut hook probably is not a big seller due to it's rather bulky sheath. Personally I prefer a leather sheath. At $25 it's a steal though.

Great pictures Steve... i saw a California Condor few years ago when I was at the Grand Canyon...
That California Condor was awesome he/she was huge...:thumbup::thumbup:

So how does that Mini Alpha Hunter fit in your hand... I have never picked one up...
Boy they sure do look good... enjoy them... Don't try to shave with one... ...
Leave that to our expert DC... ;)

DS: The exhibit, built inside a Douglas Fir forest, is a pretty big aviary. The netting looks inadequate to my eyes. These powerful birds will test it I am sure. One is 29 years old, one is a breeding candidate and I don't know about the third one. Lewis & Clark found a dead one on the Oregon coast near what is now Astoria. It would be something to see them returned to Oregon. Not the pretty birds that the Bald Eagles are but impressive animals up close. Their return en masse is threatened by the lead poisoning problem, unfortunately.

ITE: This was my very first in person visit to a condor. Very exciting for me. I would dearly love to see them in the wild. On my bucket list now.

The 195 has terrific grippy gimping for your thumb in the forward and reverse positions so the grip feels secure. I wear XL gloves and my little finger, forward grip, encapsulates the lanyard end of the handle. I think that I would be quite capable of fine control cutting with this knife. It is thick enough so that only my little finger circles the handle to touch my palm unless I take a hella grip then the next up finger touches my palm. Brilliantly sharp so shaving could be in the cards for barber of Buckville, you know who you are you brave sole. The gut hook is thick and seems useful and looks terrific with its deep stamp and my finger easily fits. A portable butcher shop in a sheath for $25. Nice.

Two short videos of the Condors, turn down volume as I was surrounded by a thick crowd of enthusiastic children when this was filmed:

I was proudly carrying the 830 and the 424 when these were filmed.

Most of the California Condors pairs are down here at the San Diego Wild Animal Park...
They have been breeding them here for a long time... I remember when they caught all of
them that were out in the wild still... Very few of them Now they been releasing them back
in to the wild and I guess moving some to other Zoo's... That's a good thing... :)
