Friday I picked up a brand new, used set of wheels for the trails! Had to do a bit of bargaining with the wife, to allow me to spend so much...
But anyways, I scored this awesome '05 Santa Cruz Blur XC, w/ xt and xtr components. Obviously I was excited, so I hit up Mike for a quick ride near his place.
So, the ride was going great, until I decided to try a little jump that was beyond my riding skillz.
Result: One broken hip(pelvis technically), one broken elbow, and a few scrapes.
So, I won't be riding again for a while... Now my new babies gotta sit in the garage all by her lonesome.
Luckily I was with Mike and he's a patient guy, and used to be a wilderness emt. Poor guy feels so bad too, he keeps apologizing as if he could do anything about it.
No worries Mike, stuff happens, my only regret is we didn't have video. Heck, if it weren't for you helping me out, I might not have ever gotten down from that trail.
So to add some survival aspect to this, if you broke a hip or leg in the wilderness, you better have several signaling devises, 'cause it's gonna be a VERY slow walk out, if you can walk at all. Just a reminder of how important signaling is, and letting someone know were you are going, and when you expect too return.
