Just put my name on the waiting list for a new 2000 Wood Inlay small Seb. Bridget says delivery will be September or October. I can't wait! Anybody have a picture they would share with me? The picture in the new website only has a picture of the front side. Anybody have a inlay Seb that they like? How is it? I already own a small plain and a NICA Tanto. I think they are the best knives I own.

I also ordered a wood inlay large Seb and was told 6 months which would make it September. Has anyone actually gotten their hands on one of these yet?

Bill

Nope, haven't got my hands on one yet! Course I haven't even got my hands on the Lg. Plain Sebenzas' I ordered yet either

Hopefully somewhere around May will be my Day

I ordered a Small Left Handed Wood Inlay Sebenza today.

Bridget said 6 months.

Good for you Rick! I'm sure it'll be worth the wait! Did you get a choice of wood inlay?

G2

Gary, I just found out they make the wood inlay for Left Handed.

I asked for Southwest Maple Burl, but no guarentees.

Rick, I'm with you. I ordered a small left-hand woodie. It's nice to deal with a company that thinks of us southpaws. I am confident that this knife will be worth waiting for!

I was told that the choice of wood was up to Chris and that I couldn't select which type I wanted. If anyone has been told differently, please let me know since I would like to be able to choose. They all look great from the photos I've seen but some are nicer than others.
A question to anyone who already owns a wood inlay Seb. How scratch/scuff resistant is the wood? Do any of you actually use these on a regular basis or are they relegated to the display case only?

Bill

I've carried and used my wood inlayed Sebenza everyday for the last seven months. The wood is holding up wonderfully with no scratches or defects visible. Don't hesitate to use the knife.

I sure don't understand why you can't choose the wood to be inlaid in your $500 Sebenza. There are some of the woods that I like and some of them I don't like and there is no way I would order a knife at that price and then have to wait 6-8 months before I knew if I was going to like it. It surprises me, with CRK's customer service record, that it is not optional for the customer. Same thing with the "clipless" Sebenza. I hope these are not signs that CRK is so busy that they are starting to take on the attitude of so many companies out there..."this is my product, I sell every single one I produce, and don't buy it if you don't like it." I guess only time will tell. Sorry if I step on any toes here...but I don't mince words, I have to speak what I'm feelin'.

Scott Dog, I confirmed my order today and was told I was the first to order a Left Handed Wood inlay Sebenza. You may want to check your order.
Thanks Floyd, I'm not getting it to use; I have plain Sebenzas for that.
Superman, Chris uses the best wood he can find. IMHO they are all nice.

Rick: Bridget e-mailed me that I was on the list and that there would be no trouble getting me my small wood inlay Sebenza. To me it seems that is a confirmation. She did say that while you can't select the type of wood, you can indicate if you want light or dark wood. I think I'll go for the dark wood. Superman, I think allowing Chris to decide the wood is not unreasonable. How would you like the knife if your choice turned out to be a poorly suited wood? I intend to carry the knife. What good is something if I have to keep it locked away? I want the knife with me so that I can enjoy it often. Life is too short to keep a nice knife in a cold safe.

Scott Dog, I hope mine looks like this (Southwest Maple burl).

Chris is the best judge of the wood.
Also, I'm going for the feel.

Rick:
Thanks for the pic, beautiful! I would like to send my small plain Seb to be decorated but I'm nervous about what I will get. Also I might get the computer generated one. The decorated is one of a kind while the computer generated is not. IMHO I think the value of these knive will skyrocket over the years. What do you think? Having a plain is nice too. The simplicity of the knife is what I love. I should probably get both! I probably will. I've really fallen into the Sebenzamania hole but have no regrets!

RGRAY, I agree with you, the southwest maple burl looks great. I guess that would be considered light as opposed to dark wood? Is there someplace where I can view the different types of wood Chris has used in the past?
Scott Dog, I also agree with you that life is too short to keep something as nice as the wood inlay Seb locked away. I'm going to carry mine.
Bill

Bill I'm not sure if it is light or dark. Here's another Wood Inlay Sebenza.
I like them both.
