New Woods Pack

My Blend in to everybody else packs, I have a North Face Recon

I have the Recon also. I love it! It has something they call "back saver technology", it shifts the weight in the pack to make it feel lighter. I dont know how or why but I can say for sure it makes a difference. I used to have a Kelty and when I put all the same exact things in the North Face it felt extremely lighter.

hey if your still looking for a pack.campmor has a good deal on a few of their kelty bags..the coyote for 79.99 and the redwing 2650 for 50 bucks.i know their not on ur list, but for those prices im thinking of picking up a coyote..hope this helps ya a bit

I don't know about the Kelty Avoket but I got my Redwing 3100 in this afternoon and I am impressed thus far. Much more comfortable than initialy expected, waist belt does a decent job of putting the majority of the load on your hips, good organization, materials, etc. I dropped a tent, sleepingbag, stuff sack with food, hygeine kit, change of cloths, ESEE Pack / PSK, Nalgene Bottle, Snow Peak cook pot and stove, Navigation Kit, First Aid Kit, ESEE 4, Fleece Jackets and a few other odds and ends in it. If I wanted to carry more I can strap then tent to the bottom for more room on the inside. All that and the pack is still comfortable, can't wait to hit the trail with it. Maybe this weekend....

Kelty seems to do a good job for the price.

I have looked into Kifaru and would love one but I do not have the funds for it right now. I am looking in the $100-$200 range right now. I love their X-Ray though and I probably will buy one after i'm done with college which will be in 2 years.

Do a google search for used kifaru packs, as I just got a used G1 zulu with xtl lid and omni belt for $200. Pack is in perfect condition.

Spec Ops was clearing out the Recon Ruck for $80 for a couple of months there. I didn't see them there the last time I visited the site, though. I have one picked up on their clearance, and use it as my GHB. It is a good pack, carries well with up to about 20# of weight. I did add a thin sheet of plexiglass to do sort-of an internal frame sheet, and with that mod, i can get some of the weight to carry on the belt if I want. I like it.... a lot.

Oops, my mistake. Still there, in the clearance section:

Natchezss(dot)com has Eagle Industries A-III's for $50(!) on clearance.

Most of the good colors are already gone, but some blacks might still remain.. ;)

take a look at the 511 rush 24 or rush 72. I use a kelty redwing, and two kifarus for hiking/packing, but just got the rush 72 to use as my "truck" bag, and have to say I was impressed. With discount codes, it can be had for 110 shipped.
