Just brought her home from the pound last night. She's still a little groggy from surgery that morning (spayed). The vet thinks she's about a year old and was mistreated badly by whoever had her before (she was dumped). Her new name is Molly. The wife and the kids adore her. I'm kinda hooked and I think the little girl likes me some, too.

Can't wait to turn her into my new hiking buddy.

Thats a great looking dog! I almost just picked up a new Australian cattle dog the same way, but my pit bulls were too jealous... Congrats!

They don't call them mans best friend for no reason !!! Congrats !!!!!!

:DWell-the wife says I am going to the dogs- and she's coming with me! Congrats on your new family member, brother.

Adorable pic, very cute pup :D

I do believe that the rescues somehow know they got lucky and have a little extra bit of loyalty ;)

Nice pup, I have a soft spot for pound dogs. I just found a pug that was mistreated pretty bad. Shes gonna need surgery for some medical problem, shes a cute bugger.

It took us going to the pound 2 to 3 times a day to walk Molly (the wife and kids would go before and after school. I went in on my lunch hour) for her to really warm up to us (especially me. I'm pretty sure that she was abused by a man... a**hole...). The first time I saw her broke my big ol' manly heart. She would sit in the corner of her kennel cringing and shivering. I hope karma works its magic on whoever made her that way.

Smoke and prayers for your good deed, brother. The better half works at a local humane society so of course the kids and I "volunteer." Sometimes it is heartbreaking, but when a four footer joins the right two footer family- it's all worth it.;)

It's a shame any creature has to go through that,
but she's in good hands now and I bet she knows it.

Nice work rescuing a dog. I can never understand how people and harm a helpless animal.

Looks like she's got a good home now.

Have fun on the trails!

I couldn't agree with you more. About 2 years ago I snatched a 4 year old yellow lab from the shelter's death row. Her crime was simply that that she was no longer wanted by her original people, i.e., not cute and cuddley any more and gets in the trash. She had already been up for adoption for more than the standard 90 days but she got a temporary stay until the shelter would need her space for new arrivals.

She has been a wonderful dog and still greets me every day with the same tail thrashing enthusiasim she displayed the first time we met.

P.S. As far as the trash goes, we have an agreement. At the end of the day she's still a dog and if I'm dumb enough to leave the trash where she can get at it, then I can't bitch while I'm picking it up. Fair enough.

It is amazing how attached you can get to a member of another species. :)

(And you probably like her too.)

Beagles are awesome dogs, I have one. Because she is a rescued dog, she's probably in some shock to have people actually care for her. I've rescued 2 dogs, one of which is a beagle. They're really warm and sociable dogs and are great companions.

Be careful though because that nose of hers can get her into a lot of trouble outdoors. They'll take off after a scent and can easily get lost.

Thats a good looking dog you have thier...good job rescuing her.
