I meant to post this here but mistakenly posted on the for sale forum.

Some new work -finally!

After a long drought, these are the first knives I made since June. I bought a new grinder a month ago and got these out in between my other work load. I sent them out for sheaths this morning so I can only guess at the length. They are 11 - 11.5" with 5.5-6.5" blades. The steel is 440C and Paul boss did the HT.

All hollow ground 5/32" & 3/16" stock. The flats are mirror polish and the grinds are satin finish (hand sanded). The upswept has a stabilized Madrone Burl and Black walnut handle. The straight blade is figured Cocobolo and stabilized box elder. The drop point fighter(?) is black linen micarta. Along the way I got lots of assistance/help/advice/mentoring etc. from Jim Siska, Rene Roy, Dan Gary, R.J. Martin, Indian George and the Necka folks & others. Good equipment and patience helps, but an open attitude within the community is what brings it all together.

I have a couple others in similar styles. Brought these and some older knives to my first show yesterday and actually sold a knife! Definitely a good feeling. I will be posting these and some other new ones for sale as soon as I get the sheaths back. Enjoying this a lot and look forward to doing are as a part-time (underlined!) adventure.

Stay sharp - Bob

Thanks for the kind words, folks. Just got a metal cutting bandsaw in and I get to try it on some 154CM I got from Crucible - that will be the next batch.

E. V. & Will -thanks. I like to think that metal and handle materials can be almost shaped like clay. I've worked in a lot of materials, but until I started with knives I never had a clue that these materials could formed into such a variety of shapes. I have to admit that I was stunned at the wealth of talent and variety I saw when I picked up my first "Knives Annual" - which led to goping to my first knife show and then, well...you know the rest of the story....

As an aside...and another topic, I have been around trades and crafts for a long time and it frosts my butt to see talented makers turned away from art shows and crafts shows.. another .02 from me as I digress....
