New XM-18 Production Slicer Grind!!

Trust me that I EDC an XM-18 3.5" "every day" and my blade is "quite well used." I do have one issue though. Other than not having a perfectly fresh grind, as applied by Rick, it still looks brand spanking new!!

The way I use the h*ll out of my XM-18 and keep it looking so damn pretty is I don't break one cardinal rule. NO jamming it through metal or cutting rocks with it!! After all, that's what Ka-Bars, Beckers, ESEE and such are made for! :D

You are basically proving my point. Reread what he was claiming, that his XM blade was so used that he needed to replace the blade. That I would like to see, an XM blade that was so used up, it needed a new blade.

I have yet to see an XM that had any significant wear let alone one that needed a new blade from all the wear and tear.

Regards,

Rich

I think we're all kinda in agreement brother. He clarified that he'd dinged it up reprofiling the edge and not by using it - which is easy to do if you need to tape the blade off, as in going for a really thin bevel. :)

I should clarify, It looks quite used by my standards. I attempted to reprofile the edge on my edgepro a few months back and marred up the blade quite badly.

Sorry to hear that Ajax. I've done the same thing a couple of times - make that 3 times d*mmit, in several years of working on reprofiling (freehand) and ended up with some good dings on previously pristine blades!! Time to just keep beating the daylights out of it now, nothing to lose right? :(

How does one get a hold of one of these? Keep an eye on the dealers, wait list, other? Beautiful looking knife.

Thanks!

You are absolutely right, by no means does the blade need to be replaced. I'm almost positive that a good tumble and resharpen would have it looking new again. However, since I aesthetically damage the blade, I have found myself using a lot more aggressively then I had previously. I now have almost no reservations of using it in any situation whether it be cutting, prying or other. I know for a fact that as much as I like having a nice pristine blade, if I was to have it refurbished, I would certainly not be using it the way I am now. I think for the time being I'm going continue to use it he way it's meant to be used and become more proficient in my edge pro sharpening skills before I decide to send it off to the spa.

I'm already drooling for my next knife. Rob, will the grind be available on 3" XM-18?
