New Yari's have arrived

I have a (plain-edge) Yari coming from a trade, so I'll give a report on it when it arrives early this coming week.
I received my Yari today, and I LIKE IT!...(Even the "plastic" sheath.). This little knife fits my (large) hand very well, and the blade is as sharp as a razor. The "traction grooves" on top and bottom of the forward grip work very well, without being too abrasive.

I discovered that if you don't like the clip thingy, it can be pulled out with no problem, and if you want it back on, it snaps right back into-place.

I'd sure like to see Gerber come out with a larger version of this knife...Maybe with a 7-8 inch blade.

My only negative thought about the sheath is that it is not leather, and I realize that perhaps I am a throwback. I just plain like a leather sheath for my knives, something simple that I can wear strong side when I am not carrying a rifle or sidearm, or just put on the weak side when I am.

The factory sheath does a couple of things very well: Makes the knife affordable, and at the price I paid for it, ($50), I would have been happy with a cardboard sheath. And, it is probably not too bad a 'tactical' sheath, although better can probably be custom made. Works good inside the pants on strong side for a right-hander, makes a decent boot sheath when I'm wearing my 'swampers' (note to you Southerners: These are the heavy leather-upper and rubber-bottom boots with the separate heavy felt or thinsulate liner). You don't even feel a knife sheath shoved down between liner and boot..

Thanks to this thread, I have found the perfect leather sheath for mine.

Interesting thread, this one. So many opinions!

PS... Thanks, Glockman! Silly me... I noticed the clip was loose, but didn't realize it would pull right out. I appreciate you pointing out the obvious...

Is this plain blade anything special? I have one, but cannot find any information on it. All the ones I see have serrations.
