new year greeting from Japan

Thanks, Mist. You are always nice to me.
You are right about trolls.

Always glad when you pop in, I tend to wonder what you're out doing over there when you're away for a while, you always come up with some awesome photos.

Speaking of which, I don't want to risk the "outcry of reviving old threads" by bringing this one back, but I just found it and there are some really fantastic photos in this thread! Is that hornet one of those that hunt down honey bee hives? If so I have seen videos of them versus European honey bees and always wondered how they would fare versus African honey bees.

I hope you do make a new knife Yuji...in fact I hope you make three or four of them! I'd really like to see it/them... plus then maybe I could find a way to trade you out of your old one that makes a brief appearance in the above thread :)

fujita yuj, happy new year. Thanks for those beautiful pictures.
They remind me of a video I posted last year: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/944524-Japan

Thanks Esav. Great video, I really enjoyed it. I'd also really like to know what kind of camera was used! The clarity of the night time footage is awesome. I hate that I didn't get to see that sooner, I should probably check out the community center more often...

Beautiful shots buddy, I sure miss the walking to the temple to ring the bell at New Year in Kagoshima and like others here I can't wait to see you post pictures of the new knife once it is done! Update on troll: last spoted attempting to occupy a small outcrop of rock near Okinawa. Apperantly, cold wet and miserable. Rock on!

happy new year! love your pictures. I was supposed to take a trip over there last month to visit some friends in fukuoka, but timing wasn't the best. Hoping to visit late spring and hit osaka, and maybe asahikawa. Himeji-jo is a beautiful castle, if you ever have time to take shots of it, would love to see it again.

Hi, 김원진. I'm happy to see you like my post.
The castle is in restoration now. We can not see the full view of it but maybe you can see the on-going works if you visit it. It is scheduled to be finished in March 2015. The process is mainly focused on the roof.

Thanks, SatsumaTengu. Your name speaks everything
For the next blade, I've very sorry that I cannot say nothing but for "please wait".

Thanks again and I really wish your outing of this year will be safe.

That hornet is I suppose Polistes jadwigae jadwigae(science name).
Not an aggressive spice like the one you mentioned. They mainly prey on insects larvae.
This is their nest.

My next knife will not be much different from the one I made several years ago, at least in its size and shape.
It's not an easy job to make many knives as I have very little powered tools but I'll try.

Thank you for the photos! It makes me miss living in Kyoto. Kansai has some very beautiful countryside

Thank you for your excellent photos and video, and for sharing them as well.

I am hopeful that my future travels will once again allow me to visit your fine country. I really like being there when the cherry blossom's are in full bloom!

My favorite was the festival that involved sitting outside with your friends, watching the cherry blossoms and drinking. They have some great festivals :D

I happened to be wandering through the Wilderness & Survival Skills forum, I don't get in here to often, and saw you new years greeting from Japan. Just thought I say "Happy New Year" back at you from just down the road...Zushi!
