I'm no Pitdog, and don't have the nice eye he has. I didn't even use a camera; but did have a cellphone with me.
Little Watchful and eye planned to spend the morning running some errands, which ended surprisingly early.
So I asked him if he wanted to go out to the woods for an hour or so to kill time while Lesser Watchful spent the day with grandma.
Sure, he said... recognizing what we all know: that the outdoors is beautiful even when it's in single digits.
Here's a creek that I was surprised was still running:
The trees were basically frozen with little or no wind:
A lake provides fish and water, if you can easily get to either. I didn't trust stepping out onto the ice, given that the creek was still running:
Here's the lake, looking toward the East:
And here's the same lake, looking toward the spot where I took the above picture:
And last, here's Little Watchful, assuring me that being out here in the frigid cold with Dad is still awesome. By the way, he very successfully managed to identify squirrel tracks, dog tracks, and raccoon tracks... including what direction they were walking. I'm pleased that at 5, he's on his way already.
P.S. Don't tell his mother that he isn't wearing his scarf.
