Happy New Year! Just finished this up yesterday evening, it's my first attempt at handle carving. Pardon my amateurish attempts at a composite photo. This one's a little curvier than the first 'Tigress'

Blade - 6 1/4" (1084)
OAL 10 7/8"
Fittings - Stainless
Handle - African Blackwood

Comments are welcome, especially any photo tips:)

Happy New Year DesRosiers family!

Great looking knife & photo Haley!

How about telling us about that background :D

Sweet lines... I wouldn't think that humpback spine would work if you told me you were doing it, but seeing it really sets the whole thing off!

Any chance of a bigger image? I'd love to see the detail in the handle sculpting.

Great knife - happy new year to both of you!

Thank you all for the kind words.

No, no it's not how it looks...no animals were harmed during the making of this photograph;) This is where any profit from BLADE goes...some refer to this as the circle-of-life:rolleyes:

Matthew Gregory: Here's a bit bigger picture of the handle.

I knew it - that's the best part of the whole knife, for me. All other aspects of the design are great, and it appears to be moving forward even while it's standing still... unless I cover the butt of the knife with my hand. That detail seals the deal, for me. Really puts the knife in motion!

How is Adam adjusting to being the second best knife maker in the family?

I think you have just scratched the surface of your potential. Very nice indeed!

He's keeping quiet about it if he knows what is good for him!:D Very nice work, Haley. Are you testing this year?

Sweet knife Haley ! Thanks for the pictures.
Regarding your pictures, IMHO, there is nothing better than natural light. Ok I must admit, I also would like see a little bit more of Alaska's lanscape guys ;)

Thanks guys, Adam's the best teacher I could ask for, not bad looking either:D I do plan to test for JS this year, Lord willing!

I quite agree on the natural light...unfortunately it's few and far between this time of year in Alaska:( we end up with a mix of propane, 110 and 12v lights and still can't see sometimes:eek:
