New years resolution thread knives edition

In 2026 I will not buy a knife based on aesthetics or steel. Instead I will buy knives based on functionality and feel.
I shall limit myself to only 2 knife purchases for the year of 2026
I will not cut myself with my SAK in 2026. 😒

I refuse to buy into this kind of negativity.

I resolve to continue buying knives based on whatever whimsical impulse, emotional warm and fuzzies and/or completely imaginary need may strike me at the moment. I make no bones about my weaknesses, and I have zero intention of changing. ;)

Not sure if this is mostly satire or not lol! Either way, best of luck in your 2026 endeavors, knife related or otherwise!

I need more tomahawks.

My Late this Year and upcoming New Year Knife(s) Resolution is buy / spend more on custom made knives and goods by members of this forum, and less on mass production knives.

Mass produced knives are great, and absolutely have a place in the industry and in my lineup. However, I currently have zero small batch / one off custom knives and want to change that..

I think you should get it and only open up your letters with it, otherwise youre probably doing it wrong
Look, it's an automatic karambit with interchangeable blades, from AEB-L no less, and it comes with a discreet carrying system. On paper, it's flawless.

In reality, my goal is to buy fewer knives, but when I do buy I'll aim for bigger. I want a functional sword.

It violates the basic rule of SAKs - As soon as you say, "I will not cut myself with my SAK today," you will definitely cut yourself with a SAK today.
Especially with the new synergy models. Liner opens left to right leaving your probably thumb right in the guillotine that is the sak blade's path, snaps shut like a mouse trap

Dawson makes bank account slapping swords.
If you aren't opening up your letters with a wrist karambit then im not sure im convinced youre serious enough about your mail...

No promises, but my goal for the coming year is to sell more knives than I buy, as I have another habit that needs feeding. I just got into wood turning recently, and the need for materials is nonstop, while the need for tools and supplies easily rivals that of needing new knives. I have so many that never have been and never will be used, and any connection I have with many of them seems to dwindle with time; but pen kits, blanks and finishing materials are always getting used up. So far about a half dozen knives sold have netted me a crapload of turning tools and accessories.
