New York Custom Knife Show (2014 NYCKS) • Stunning pieces!

Thanks for sharing your incredible talent, your eloquent passion and a ton of hard work, Jim. So inspiring as always.

Just WOW!

Thanks for this Jim, priceless source of inspiration to makers like me that can't attend most of theses shows.

Coop, you are one of the people that make this forum great.

My show threads: It's a service to the makers, and an overall benefit to the entire knife community.

Thank you guys.

Murray: Thanks for your praise. Coming from a fellow professional is upstanding.

I'm still muddling through a busy weekend and haven't spent time editing all of them. I HAVE been printing and getting the mailers all set to go out on Monday, for the portfolio clients. Those of you who are waiting won't be waiting too long. :)

VERY Artistic visions:

You have all seen the work from talented Knifemaker's Guild member Suchat Jangtanong. His work was accepted in absence by the Guild, because he's paranoid to fly across the oceans.

What a delightful dagger from Daniel Watson. He's not renowned for his smaller pieces....

..as he is for his LARGER pieces! In a moment of weakness, I allowed I'd shoot this for him. It's spectacular. See the wootz blade and black star sapphire in the eyes.

It's only a weakness in the amount of time it takes ME to produce an image of this quality.

More soon...

Thank's a lot, I'm far awa y from NYC and you bring to me the chance of seeing wonderful pieces in superb pictures.
Thank a lot to both!

Beautiful photos Coop! I spent the weekend next to Robert with Suchat Knives so got to check out many of them. The middle one you show here was one of my favorite, incredible engraving.

Are Michael Zieba's hinged wooden cases designed to work as cutting boards when closed?

Isn't that interesting?! No, he did not mention this, although it's a great brainstorm. I'll point this out to him. (Michael did not make his cases. He has another fellow doing this with him. Hmmmm..... good idea.)

Sean: Always good to see you and Ann. :) Yes, that's a new artist. Robert Oldaker (Suchat Custom Knives / Mr. Damascus Knives) has continued strongly with Keith Newman's passing. I was pleased to hear of Robert's refusal, and addressing an engraver's work as unacceptable, when he learned of the man's domestic violence issue with his wife in Thailand. He's to be applauded for not supporting artistry at the cost of human suffering.

As promised, some prominent dress Tacticals.

I missed talking to Mark, Todd Begg's brother. I think he was representing these. He was always in conversation.

Peter Carey is in high demand. Here's proof why.

Sal Manaro had a table this year. I've been a supporter of his work since about 2005, where I bought one of his first 'Bullseye's' for $550. Still have it. His styles have evolved, but his build quality has ALWAYS been crazy clean.

Peter Martin With an attractive honeycomb handle.

RJ Martin continues to dominate the well-engineered category. None better.

Tom Mayo is a longtime favorite. This one in Timascus.

Check out this integral cleaver by Canada's Peter Rassenti

John W. Smith has NEVER produced a knife which wasn't top shelf quality.

Lastly, a RARE Jim Smyth sighting. He's not a prolific maker, however he is off the charts in quality and clever design (and desire!).
