New York Custom Knife Show (NYCKS) • 2009

Love the Lake, WOW!!! Mace Vitale also caught my attention, looks great. And the Loveless...when do you get to see something like that, fantastic and just happy I had a chance to see it. Thanks Coop!

Really great stuff, Coop. Thanks for sharing. I can just visualize that fifties-era Loveless coming out of his shop, brand-spanking new. Cool!

Thanks for posting the pics Coop

I really had planned on coming to see you and get some knife photos but I spaced the whole show

A very interest and beautiful outlay of knives.

That Lake is pretty unique and valuable to the stratosphere I imagine with the Barry Lee Hands engraving.

What is the handle material on the Johnson set? Micarta? G-10? Not bakelite is it?

Really interesting Loveless image.

Like the damascus patterns on the Zoe Crist set, reminds me of a pattern that Jerry Fisk does.

They are indeed G-10. They are in fact all of the knives he has ever made using G-10 (and definitely in Yellow!). Once I had three I figured it constituted a pretty cool set, so I asked Coop to work his magic.

The particulars of each are:
Backpacker: Yellow G-10 Scales, 3 1/4" BL, 7" OAL- Standard Logo
Loveless-style Utility: Yellow G-10 Scales, 5" BL, 11" OAL, 1/4" Stock- AKI 2009 Logo
Loveless-style Chute: Yellow G-10 Scales, 4 1/2" BL, 9 1/4" OAL- Rare Mini-Logo

Thanks for looking,

Matt

Great photos, Coop. I like the way the lighting shows off the shape of the handles on the Johnson knives. The yellow G-10 works well, I think.

Stephen, I agree. That Foster is a masterpiece.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for clarifying this. Yes, they are a VERY unique combination, and until you compiled all of them together, they weren't a 'set'. Very savvy.

Thanks Jose, for noticing the handle lighting. I work at that.

I'm surprised (pleasantly) at the amount of comments the 'old crusty' Loveless has generated. No only here but on the other forums I posted. It appears it's struck good chord with our community. :D

Thanks for posting these beautiful knives coop.. You did a beautiful job on the set and it was a true pleasure to work with you .. thank you

And a hello to all here..
I am a new full time maker . I have been working as a hobby for years but have gone full time this year and this was my first show. It was great to meet everyone and see amazing work and to meet people that have been a huge influence on me over the years. I look forward to meeting more folks at upcoming shows...

I was at the show and saw and handled both Mace's and Zoe's work. Mace's San Mai fixed blade is a masterpiece. Zoe's set of fixed blades are flawless. Great work and pics by all.

Thanks for the photos Coop - a genuine treat for us all.

Mace - that fighter - - great job!
