New York Custom Knife Show (NYCKS) Friday 11/16 - Sunday 11/18 Westin J.C.

Is it still a go? With all the devistation up in NJ/NY, I'm wondering.

I know not all areas were hit too hard and that the controversial marathon is still on, but curious if anyone knows for sure if this knife show is going live as scheduled?

@Rubi, hope you and yours didn't feel too much impact from the storm!

That is a good question my Friend.
We just got power back last night (Blessing) and clean-up started.
We got hit hard but not as bad as some. Living amidst trees is wonderful until a Hurricane comes to visit.
Four(4) days without power/heat/water/....etc is a humbling experience, reminds us of what we take for granted.
Wish I had a dollar for everytime I turned a dormant light switch on or went to the sink and turned the knobs on :o

As of today it's a go, we'll see what the next 2 weeks bring.

Got this email from the show promoter....

NYCKS Exhibitors...

We have had several questions regarding the status of the show as it relates to the damage caused on the East Coast by Hurricane Sandy.

Please note that at this time the show will continue as planned. Should circumstances change, we will be sure to let you all know as soon as possible.

Our best wishes and sincerest condolences to those affected by the storm. Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our office.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing all of you at the 35th Annual New York Custom Knife Show.

I hope it's a go! I got hit hard with much damage and power restored only last evening. It's been a tough go with the worst to come between insurance claims,

rip off ,storm chasing "repair crews/tree specialists" and a couple of pissed off neighbors whose homes were severely damaged by one of my trees splitting in

half! Tree's are a blessing and can be a curse.

Took down a sunroom,chimneys,flattened a 2013 Honda Accord LX V6 and other atrocities.Thank God,no injuries!

Sorry, did not mean to derail, just making a point about how much I was looking forward to finally making it to this show after this week.

I hope all in Sandy s wrath from BF are well.

I cannot wait! It will be my first show, due to work I will only be there Friday but im hoping I will get lucky in the lotto.

I'm sorry to hear many of you were negatively impacted by the storm.

...My heart goes out to all those impacted by the storm and my huge thanks goes out to everyone doing anything to help those in immediate need.

I'm glad to see that the show is on.

Best of luck to everyone. I look forward to the photos.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who have lost and those who continue to wrestle with Lifes challenges made worse by this natural disaster.... IF the powers that be (To include the Big One) see clear to have a safe and productive event I would encourage those who can - to attend, it is a good time.
Our "Drive On" attitude is one of the things that make "Us" Great as Americans.
Certainly, BF and Hinderer Folks are high on that list:thumbup:

I stayed at the Westin last week. I don't know what kind of damage they might have incurred and it'll probably get fixed real fast since customers are their livelihood! But my boss lives in JC just a block away from the Westin and she said that during the storm the water was 5 feet deep on the roads!!!! So perhaps they are just planning on getting repaired and back in business by then. My offices only 2 blocks away from the Westin are still closed this week due to damage and repairwork on the ground floor.

I will be in NJ for the first day of the show, leaving Friday night so I plan on hitting the show on Friday! I hope they do the drawing a little early *hint hint* as I have a plane to catch at 7pm out of Newark! Who's going to be at the Westin on Thursday night?

Was planning on being there all three days but had to take an unexpected trip back to Washington State last month as my wife's grandfather passed on so I can no longer take that Friday off. Also I may have to work on Saturday now as a high profile task has to be completed that day. If I can't make it on Friday and Saturday, be sure I will be there Sunday.

Looking forward to seeing the Hinderer crew.

I know the experience well. It's a big reason we rock generators at the compound.

Sorry you had 4 days of it.

$12,000 in damage and I consider myself lucky. I truly feel for those that lost much much more.

The gas "crisis" continues to impact everyone and I just got back from Floyd Bennet Field for a fill-up. Assuming I can get gas next week for my personal car, I'll be there on Friday.

We're back up after 11 days without power, thank you God! We will be at the show Friday and Saturday.

Wow! I know the challenges only 4 days presented....
Praying for all still suffering. Many elderly or with small children. Also for the safety
Of the workers.

I'm at the Westin. Place looks great. They really cleaned up around here fast!!! Should be a great show!!!!
I'm hoping to win the lottery!!!! Maybe the odds are greater on the first day since not so many will be here yet????
