I've not attended these NY/NJ shows and we're talking about an event that hasn't happened yet (specific to this show) but...

Other weekend shows often have a lottery each day (Sat.&Sun.). Get there early to get a ticket, fill it out, enter it into the lottery...return to lottery area at time of lottery and hope some good luck finds you.

Maybe I can make a day trip out of it and just come saturday. Damn I wish I was prepared w cash...gonna take some quiick and heavy planning here. Hope to make it atleast sat. So I can at the verry least meet everyone n maybe score some cool gear. Will all the things for sale like pens n accessories be all sold out by sat??

Not usually. Typically the knives from the popular knifemakers are gone by Sunday and we sell a lot of pens and other stuff cause people that only attend on Sunday have money to spend but nowhere to spend it. And sometimes carbon fiber scales (if we have them) sell out quickly. Looking forward to meeting you!

Thanks mike! Ditto...askin the boss for the day off today...alittle soon but wish me luck guys! Gf is already on board...she's my human gps! ;)

I'm sure its alittle redundant but, what time would I IDEALLY wanna get to the venue saturday? Lines to get in? Do I have to b line it somewhere to sign up for the lotto? I'm headed right for Hinderer anyway!

There we go, thanks N2K!

Hinderer Lottery is 3:00 Friday and Saturday (must be present to participate) Lottery is for opportunity to PURCHASE a knife at table price (CASH Only).
Stop by the Hinderer table and fill out a ticket (1 per/person) drop the part with your name on it in the basket.
Items will be "For Sale" at the table, it varies but there is a nice selection of "desireables" plus some think it's a Bonus to get to meet and talk with the guys.
It's a Good Time :)

Excellent tips / instruction, Rubi.

Many times at shows my XMs in my pocket draw general questions.

More than once I've been asked if the lotteries are a chance to win a knife. At first I thought "you gotta be kidding", but they were always serious. Thinking winning in a lottery meant free stuff.

That is not the case with these lotteries. Many of the higher-end makers hold similar lotteries.

If you know you want the best item on the table; bring an appropriate amount of cash to the lottery drawing. You can always deposit it back into your account later.

Then hope for good luck and enjoy the emotional roller coaster as names are announced.

And if you get a chance to speak with the guys (and sometimes) gal(s) behind the counter you are already a winner.

Look forward to meeting ALL attendees. Definately a great by-product of the shows and GTG's - get to meet
(in person) those who are Hinderer fans. We do get to know a great deal about each other here on the forum
adding a 3-D aspect is another layer of the experience (with the exception of me and maybe Rob's hair) it's a pleasure (for most) who get to meet and shoot the breeze with the "Herd". :)

Rubi you should add that lottery advice to the stickies.......Thanks for posting it, I'll be using it in the spring.........

Thank you for the info Rubi.

I have what may be a silly question. Is there a limit on the amount of people that can enter a lottery? What time do they stop taking names for the lottery?

I'm just trying to figure out when I should leave in the morning. :D

Everyone travel safe!

When I was at Blade 2012 a gentleman's name was called at the Hinderer Lottery, he walked up to the table where all the Hinderer Knives were laid out. He picked up a knife from the table and started to walk away, he was informed that he now had to pay for it, he put it back on the table and said " I thought they were free" and walked out of the hall. The complete and utter disbelief from the astonished crowd was one of WTF is he doing to Yes, one more chance for me to win! He had no idea what an opportunity that he passed on, I still wonder if he now realizes what he did.

The reason I so look forward to this show is the stories, acquaintances we start and continue, the excitement of all the knives and makers, the lotteries, meeting Rick and Rob and the herd, and of course the Hinderer knives and accessories !

Looking forward to reconnect with Rubi and solve the worlds problems in 15 minutes! Sure hope to meet many of you guys and gals! Safe trip to all !
Joe

The lottery info is printed on the tickets and spoken by those handing them out if you ask questions.

Go get a ticket, meet the folks behind the counter and enjoy the experience.

I'd like to be there. Perhaps one day.

Good luck guys.

Looks like I may make it!! Got the 80% OK from the bossman, my girl should be comin with me. I'm gonna bring what I can for fundage, at most I may be able to afford a production. IF I were to win, I suuuuurely hope I have enough cash on me, would be a shame to win, especially early on and not have the cash for the blade! Ill see if I can't pull another miracle out of my ass. I THINK ill only be able to make a day trip out of it and go home sat. Night. I would looove to stay the night and attend sunday, but its gonna be hard affording goodies, gas, a room, and STILL have dough on deck for the lotto just incase. What I'm most excited for is meeting everyone here from the forum, rick rob rob and the rest of the rhk crew! And ofcourse...drooling over some DLC and hand ground goodness.

Anyways ill keep you guys posted!! If I make it, ill be the taller younger guy w the bulls hat n black n red nikes! Track me down if you see me! Don't be afraid to say hi, unfortunatelty I have no clue what anyone looks like aside for the rhk boys. So keep an eye out for the red or black bulls hat drooling all around the Hinderer booth! ;)

Is it common practice to bring the hinderer collection? Show em off, trade, sell to desparately make money for the lotto and booth goodies?! Lol jk, kinda. But for a real excited first timer, any tips on that?

Thanks guys, I hope I make it, and if I do, hope to meet as many of you as possible! :D
