New York Show Anyone?

Right now residing in Congers (still with the folks.. AHH!). I spend much time in Nyack. Good to see someone else from Rockland!

Yeah, back in the day I spent much time and $ in Nyack...a close friend used to own Fantasy Island (used to be where Bruxelles is now)...but that may be before your time...

I plan of being there for the opening bell on Friday. Looking forward to seeing everyone and great stuff.

Cliff, it shouldn't be THAT bad. But compared to your area, you may not like it. See ya tomorrow. I'm guessing it will be in the 50's.

Off and running out the door. Hasta!

The show has been good to me so far. I have a small alcove set just off the show room hall. This time the hall is on the second level, and is not one big open area. I find it appealing. Others don't like the change. I did NOT spend time wandering the aisles to give first-hand input, though. Steve D'Lack has done his very best in making the attendees comfortable and successful.

Makers from near and far are in attendance. USA, Japan, South Africa--the usual suspects. :)

I have a young HS student (Luke) who I work with as a coach, helping me as an assistant. His first time at a knife show and his first time really being able to inspect the knives, and mingle with the makers and collectors. He is COMPLETELY in awe of both. As you would hope.

More of the same today. I leave in five mins..... See you there!

Chuck Gedraitis and I are discussing a project. :) (Think Scagel.)

Luke was nice. Seemed genuinely turned on by this stuff. Maybe we'll see another young collector sometime. :) But for his sake, i'm not sure being a knife addict is the most practical hobby at a young age. I am guilty of this.

Good seeing you Coop, thanks so much for your help.

For the record, Don, Cliff actually said the temp was nice!!!! Shocking right?

Stabber came up to me and said hi (recognized me from pic) so that was cool.

Sounds like everyone is having a good time, Jon. Maybe Cliff is just gettin used to NY, that's way north for him!

I've had a couple reports that the show is smaller but good.

I even bought some handle material there and I'm still in Missouri :D Thanks, Cliff!

The room is different, and sort of weird because its not one big square. There are a few different sections. I actually really liked the atmosphere in this one. Maybe its due to a lower ceiling??

I sat and watched Cliffs table a bit and tried to sell knives. One or two people came up and wanted to shake my hand, and told me "hey cliff, nice to finally meet you". I had to give them the unfortunate news that I was just a dude.

Well I think I saw jonathan Friday afternoon...
Didn't say hello since he was on the phone.
"hello"
:)

While I liked the ballroom better, this room wasn't too bad.
The lighting was sub-par.

Good to see old friends and many beautiful knives.

I would have gone but I heard Ebbtide was there and he'd bug me about the Aito again
!!!

:p

Good to see you there, Ebbtide. Keep working on that seam, the rest of the sheath turned out great. Better lighting would help but I liked this layout. You didn't have to criss cross as much to see all the tables and Coop had his little niche to take photos.

Thanx Jose, I'll get it right sooner or later.
I'll say this, it was better than the basement at the other joint lol

Big thanx to Lifter for the tips as well.

Bob, are you in NYC? Come out, come out, wherever you are! :D

Coop

Hey there, Coop. There was a good possibility I was going to be in the area on Thursday, but it didn't happen so I'm not there. Instead, I'm sittin' here on the other side of the continent, just having watched the sun hit the water.

Hope you guys have a great show!

Bob
