New York Woods Overnighter-Harriman 2-“The Morgue”

Awesome post RB, Jay, and James. Great photos, looks like you guys had a blast. I've been trying to talk a few of the friends I've made here into going on an over-night, but with about a foot of snow, everything coated in ice, and negative wind chills lately no-one is all that interested in it. Truth be told, I should invest in some more appropriate gear myself first...

Excellent thread, really enjoyed it. Good to see 3 different setups used and the strengths of each.

Strong effort on using the ice bed and 2 blankets.

I'm intrigued by the frontiersman rig and wonder if they maybe used a blanket that had been waxed or treated in someway as a top layer to give them a little more protection from rain/snow/the wind?

Looks like a great time.

Looks like you had a fun time
Good company

it always is as long as there's snow and spam!

thanks, brian! aside from the usual layers i recommend investing in gaiters (i have the outdoor research ones) to prevent the snow from getting inside your boots/socks. also, kahtoola microspikes works awesome when hiking on ice. i twisted my right knee two winters ago hiking on steep icy terrain and trying to do all kinds of maneuvers trying not to fall over :o now i always bring the microspikes.
