New ZT 0560 Scale!

I ordered scales from Dan for my 350 and 560, however two of the three scales are orange like the first post in this thread. The last one is a sorta purple marbled looking scales. I'll post it if i don't mess it up on the install.

I have ordered a scale for the 0560, I'll post pictures when I get it.

I don't know if it has been mentioned, but how do they feel? are they like the original scales

They're slightly smoother, not quite as grippy.

Considering Glacier, Grey, or Orange for my incoming ZT. The pictures here definitely help. Thanks!

Think Grey could glow? :]

Here's the Glacier one on my 561. In light it's almost like a jade color. When glowing it's a cool ice blue.

Love having the option of different scales. I don't know if the lighter color will show dirt more than the brown scales, but for casual edc it will have the kryptoglow.

After using mine for a day, I decided it wasn't for me. It was a quality piece for the money but there were a couple of things that I didn't like.

1. It is smoother than the factory scale. The texture is there but the material just doesn't have any bite to it.
2. The scale is noticeably lighter than the factory scale. And this knife is already light enough. I didn't like the weight reduction.
3. The orange shows dirt like you wouldn't believe. I set the knife down on my desk and turned it over and I had to go wash it. My OCD just wouldn't let that stay.

So I'm back to black for now. I might try it again later though.

The more I think about it, the more I think the scale I'd like to have would just be the coyote/dirt brown. Something a little different, but still very "earthy" and rather subtle. I like that blue glow, but I don't know how often I'd actually ever see it. Good thing I've spent too much money on knives lately so I can figure out the scales while my finances recover...

I didn't have time to read the whole thread, maybe tonight. Does Dan have a website or how do I reach him? I am fairly new to ZT knives and just received my first last week, it is a 0200ST. I noticed that lots of different scales are made for the 500 series knives, but not as much for others. I don't think I have seen anyone making them for the 200's, a few 300's but not many. Why is this? What is the main difference between these knife scales that makes one easier than the other? Thanks for the info.

is there any contact info for kryptoglow? i tried to contact him through ebay, but no reply.

Thank you for this review. I was trying to decide between Kryptoglow and Cuscadi. Based on this review, I think I'll spend the extra money for Cuscadi.

I agree with everything posted here, however, those issues do not bother me. the smoother scales still offer plenty of grip without ripping up pockets or creating hotspots, in my opinion. i actually like that the scales make the knife is lighter, and this particular orange doesn't seem to pick up dirt any worse than my 20 other orange knives. To each their own though.

Tried to e-mail you, but your contact info is not listed on the forum. shoot me an e-mail and i will reply. the main reason people are staying away from the 300 series is because of the assisted opening. relieving an area for the torsion bar is not easy. I am almost 100% sure Dan would do a 0200 for you if you asked. No torsion bar to worry about there.

e-mail sent. :)

Yeah. I don't want anyone to think that this is a knock on Dan or his scales. This is merely a personal preference thing.

Just ordered purple glow scales from Dan. He said it would only take a week to make and I don't think that is bad at all. Thanks solid orange for Dans info.

The smoothness is from oil that Dan rubs on the scale for shipment to clean it. You can use denatured alcohol or a degreaser to clean it. I use simple green and after it dries it has more of a textured feel like the original scale.

Yes thank you solidorange, the post helped me pull the trigger and i'm glad i did.

I also ordered another scale from kryptoglow. Yellow/Green that's how much i like his work. Having different scales almost makes it a new knife. Different scales for different occasions.

Orange by nature is going to show a lot more dirt compared to a black scale. So would any other lighter colored scale for that matter. I'm definitely going to be ordering from Dan as soon as I decide what color/s I want.

Thanks for the tip! TBH I wasn't sure I believe you because it doesn't leave an oil residue on my hand, but I tried some palmolive dish soap and sure enough, it got a bit grippier. It's still short of the stock scale, but I'd say it's a bit above the titanium side now.

Well I probably should stop buying scales for the 560, however that glacier one looks kinda nice. I got my scales today and they're posted below.
