Hi all...

I finally got around to getting some new knives... for the last 7 or so years it's only been my Emerson CQC-7 and La Griffe and occasional Boker.

So I decided to look around a bit and came across the ZT's, did some research here and there and I really liked the knives and company philosophy etc... so I thought I'd give them a try.

I've been carrying them everyday in rotation and I really like the assisted opening... very smooth and very sharp. Also very SOLID, they work well with my larger hands.

You guys even got me a T.

Thanks...

I'll take some better gallery pics later on

I just ordered a 0302. Can't wait til it gets here. I'm putting it in the rotation for sure. I have heard so many great things about this line, I can't wait to get my hands on one!!! Thanks for sharing those pics!!

I ordered a ZT0300 with the carbon fiber scale and black blade from TADgear, but a week later I still haven't seen a shipping confirmation. :grumpy:

Don't they know that I'm impatient?? ;) Especially when I paid an extra hundred bucks for the wicked carbon fiber scale and the priviledge of having a non-tigerstriped blade.

I seriously can't wait!

I really think that plain satin and black blades should be an option on the standard knives - I'm always amazed how many hardcore Strider guys I hear asking how they can get the tigerstripes off of their blade. Just my opinion, and I know what opinions are like......

T.A.D. is slow...I went nuts waiting for shipping confirmation on mine...hang in there.

I got them from Jeff at Knife Deals Plus... he shipped them out asap and I had them on the east coast in 2 days (usps priority)

Thanks Reholli - I needed the assurance! I should have ordered the COmbat Edition model at the same time... if I'd known it would take this long I might have done it!

Well, my ZT0300 Carbon Fiber is finally on it's way to me! I'll have to remember to be patient next time I order from TAD Gear.

I can't wait to check this one out!

I wish I had a CE as well...but 3 of them would have been too much for my wife...the DW and CFBLK are great, however.

Glad yours is on its way!

Congrats on everyone and their new blades. I really want to order the digi camo ZT0300 from TADgear, and I'd probably just pick it up because they aren't located to far from me, but it is pricey.

Has anyone ever taken their ZT 0300 line out and used it where it might attract dirt/mud/sand or other debris. I have a small A/O kershaw, which is nice. But if I do go with this the ZT 0300 I want to know that it can withstand terrain. I know under those circumstances your better off with a fixed blade, but would a ZT 0300 line handle it?

Any folder has the potential to get debris in the works when/if coming in contact with it. The reason Zero Tolerance went with a 3/8" nut to secure the pivot as opposed to a torx or even more complex fitting was to make it easier to take down for quick field maintenance.

All the components are beefy enough to withstand pretty much anything, and the lockup is rock-solid. I'm sure this knife can withstand terrain as well as any folder and better than most, but I haven't gone out and proven it.

There are those that argue that a folder is never appropriate in a tactical situation and a fixed-blade is the only way to go. That may be true...I'm no tactical expert...however, these knives are pretty much as close to a fixed-blade as you can get in a folder barring some special designs with add-in bolts to secure lockup and literally eliminate the ability to pivot.

Myself...I just like them because they're the most solid, most secure-feeling folders imaginable in the hand.

One word.......ZT0500 MUDD, well one word and a few letters/numbers. Now a few more words. The ZT0500 has the ZT toughness, and with those neoprene seals nothing should get to the pivot or lock.

I ordered from TADgear on 14 January...started emailing 14 February...still haven't gotten the item

That's a little too slow! Sorry to hear that...

When I didn't get an e-mail acknowledgement, I called them to verify my order was in the system...took a couple of tries to get anyone to answer the phone.

They maintain a forum over on The Usual Suspects Network (USN)...they usually respond to posts fairly quickly, but you'd have to join to post if not already a member...

Good luck!

I didn't mean to turn this into a TAD gear bash, but it took them ten days to ship my order. I emailed them at the five day mark and they said my order would ship out shortly. Then I e-mailed again five days later, and finally got an invoice e-mailed to me. The UPS tracking number came a few hours later.

TAD gear has some great stuff, and I wll say that they replied promptly to both of my e-mails. I will most likely only order products from them if I can't get them anywhere else - they have great stuff, but it's generally pretty expensive. I tend to shop around for better deals.

Overall, I hold no ill will towards TAD gear - I prefer faster shipping, but otherwise they have been very pleasant to deal with thus far.

If I like this ZT0300 Carbon fiber, I might pick up one of the Combat Edition ZT0300's - I'm still trying to decide if the non-striped blade is worth an extra hundred dollars.... but gosh I hate those tiger stripes.....

Oh man!! I just got my TAD special edition ZT 0300 last night and it is AWESOME!

I can't remember the last time I was this impressed with a knife. It had been in my hands less than three minutes when I decided that i would have to have at least one more of these. That was fast!

It's so solid and beefy, yet it feels slim enough to ride comfortably in my pocket. That being said, it does take up a lot of pocket space due to the width of the handle.

Man, this knife just feels stout all over and the fit and finish is superb. I'm curious how the blade looks under the full black DLC coating, but it appears to be cleanly ground.

The knife is big, but not too big (like my MT Combat Troodon) - it fits my hand comfortably and it fits well in regular and reverse grips. Working in the wild office jungle, I don't really need to use it in a reverse grip, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

I'll post more comments as I continue to play with this knife - I should be getting a standard ZT 0301 passaround knife (from another forum) this coming week, so it will be nice to do a side by side comparison. I will also post feedback in the passaround thread.

Now you know why I have 2, a DW and a CFBLK! :D;):)

I know it's really too much money, but the satin-finish CE and DW blades are really nice...the whole knife is a different experience because the G10 is much smoother and cooler to the touch than the CF. Also, even though Kershaw's DLC is an extremely hard coating, it's actually not as smooth a finish as the bare steel blades and creates slightly more drag when opening and closing the knife. The CFBLK is also quieter than the DW, with a more muffled sound when opening, probably a characteristic of the CF, absorbing vibration. The sound when opening my DW is less muffled and unmistakeable, like jacking the action on a hand gun.

Anyway, congrats and glad you like yours...I know just how you feel! :)

ZT's do grow on you, I've got a 302, 300 Digital Camo, a 300 Carbon Fiber, a 200 serrated, and a 121 fixed blade. That's over $1100 worth of ZT's and I'm probably not done yet. My favorite is the 300 DC, I really like the plain polished blade over the black and striped, but the others are keepers as well.

Surely you have an 0500 MUDD? :)

Can't go wrong with a ZT...

One won't be enough...
