New ZT Customer with New ZT's - Pics

Anyone mind posting some picks of a carbon 0300? I know TAD has some real nice pics but I'm more interested in seeing some average joe pics of one. Thanks in advance. I'm trying to decide if I want to convert my emerson cqc11 to a framelock or get a 0300. My only real problem in deciding is I really like the wave feature... Hopefully these pics will help me decide. I may end up doing both.

Can't go wrong with a ZT...

One won't be enough...

Yea I know the feeling. Got the 0302 a couple of weeks ago and now I'm really close to getting a 0200 and 0500 from knifeworks.com. The 302 took over as edc from an emerson super commander that I got a little over a month ago. These zt's really get under your skin!

Here is a link to another thread where a forum member posted some pics he took of his ZT0300 Carbon Fiber:

To be honest, the TAD Gear pics are about as good as pics can show this knife. The carbon fiber is really cool, but it is definitely more subtle than smoothly milled carbon fiber. It looks substantially different than black G-10, but it's not quite as sparkly as I had hoped.

Nonetheless, I will be keeping mine and the extra cash for this treatment was well worth it. As soon as I can get the cash together I'm gonna have to get one with the green G-10 as well.

I have to say this knife is one of the most impressive pieces that I've handled in a long time and I don't say that lightly.

The only disafvantage of the carbon fiber was that I got a few small splinters from it when I first got it, but after a little handling and rubbing the handle on a rag, I have had not trouble at all. I'm sure these were just left over from the machining process - carbon fiber is difficult to machine and has a tendency to splinter, so this isn't really a big surprise. However, it was quickly resolved, so I wouldn't be concerned about it. Heck, I'd like to buy another.

In any case, I highly recommend this knife - it's really a fantastic piece.

Here's some quick-and-dirty ones of mine...I'm a lousy photographer and I didn't take advantage of the macro capability on this camera because I haven't learned how to use it yet! I've been too busy messing with my knives!

This is a really stout knife with fantastic build quality that functions flawlessly and feels more secure in-hand than any knife I own except the ZT0300DW, the same knife in different trim. I didn't take pictures of the lock-up but it's perfect...just the right amout of massive titanium lockbar contacting the blade tang, with no binding on release. There's also a black G10 spacer running down the spine of the knife that the frame screws pass through.

Well I just got my new 0500 and 0200 and I'm all giddy. Both came fast and flawless from knifeworks.com. Very impressed with both but was really blown away by the 0500. How can zt sell a knife of this quality for the price I'll never know, but deeply appreciate it! Fit and finish on both exceeds all my expectations. Can't wait to see what these guys come up with next.

Ok, It's a little late, but here is a cruddy scanned image of my new baby - a ZT0300 Carbon Fiber:

So how do you like it, jimmer_5?

Ray :)

Ray, words fail me. This knife is awesome. I'm so impressed with the build quality, materials, textures, etc. I really think this should be a standard prodcution model, not just a short run.

Ok, here we go - I just got a standard ZT0301 in a passaround on another forum and I thoguht I'd write a little review/comparison.

I have been anticipating this passaround knife so much that a few weeks ago I gave in and bought one of the TAD gear specials for myself! I have thoroughly enjoyed playing with both of these knives.

Essentially, they are the same knife. Aesthetically speaking, I prefer the TAD Gear knife's "Battle Swedge", but the thicker tip on the standard knife will definitely be tougher. I love the nice big blade and the overall lines of the knife. Being an automatic knife collector, I've never been a fan of spring assists, but this one is pleasant to use and I haven't felt the urge to convert it to a manual knife yet. This is my first experience with the Hinderer Lockbar stabililzer - I like it and it seems to do its' job, but I'm not convinced that it's a necessity. It does look cool.

I have to applaud Zero Tolerance for their use of color on this knife in the form of the OD green (and Coyote Tan) G-10 scales. It's so nice to see a high end 'tactical' knife that isn't completely black. This has always been a big complaint of mine, and i appreciate the nice colored G-10. (note: I recognize my own hypocrisy in this statement, since the ZT0300 I bought was pretty much all black....the handle is KINDA gray...)

My biggest issue with the standard knife is the tiger stripes on the blade. Try as I may, I just can't get used to them. They have not grown on me. It's a great finish concept, just not the finish that I would have put on EVERY single regular production knife. That being said, I think it hides the wear of heavy use quite well - if you spray paint stripes on a brand new brick wall, the graffitti won't show up as well.

I am impressed with the build quality of this knife and I am especially impressed by how thin this big knife manages to be. It is definitely a pocket filler, but it does os in a wide flat way, and I'm completely ok with that.

I think the best testament to the ergonomics of this piece is the fact that it doesn't feel as big as it is when you hold it. In fact, the only time it's true size is revealed is when I pick up a different knife - it makes most of my other folders feel puny in comparison. And I'm not talking tiny knives here - Kershaw Junkyard Dog II, Benchmade 806 AFCK, Microtech LUDT, Buck/Strider folders - they all feel small in comparison. Yet the Zero Tolerance 0301 doesn't feel all that big in my hand.... it's something of a contradiction.

To be honest, I have very few bad things to say about this knife - I wish the pocket clip placement allowed the knife to ride a bit lower in my pocket. I also wish it was more centered on the handle when in the tip -up position. I can't stand the tiger stripes. I understand the big ol' nut that tightens the pivot, but a large flushmounted custom torx screw would have been cleaner looking.

HOWEVER, these are extremely small gripes. Overall, this is the most impressive production knife that I have handled in a long time! When I got my TAD gear version of the knife, it took me a total of 3 minutes to decided that I was definitely going to buy a second (and maybe a third) ZT0300.

I highly recommend this knife to anyone!
