New ZT/Hinderer Flipper is Coming!!!0560/0561

While the extent to which the plane of the Ti scale is out of parallel to the focal plane is a valid concern, it is far less so that the observation that this photo was shot with a fairly wide-angle lens and the watch band is far closer to the camera lens than the Ti scale. This would necessarily render the watch band relatively larger (as it would any foreground object) when compared to something farther away from the camera lens (in this case, the Ti scale). This renders a direct measurement analysis worthless without compensation calculations for relative lens proximity. In summary, your calculations are bunk. Purely eyeballing, my guess is about a 4" blade. Now I just need to figure out if I want the XM-24, or just this. Who am I kidding, I WANT BOTH!

I came pretty damn close for my guess being "BUNK"

At which photo are you looking?
Watch the video posted. The clip just doesn't look like it belongs. I say they either stick the regular ZT/Skyline clip on the knife or make a few adjustments to that lowrider clip.

You may be right, I don't have much eye for aesthetics, but honestly the low-rider clip is the one feature that makes me want the 0560. Otherwise, I feel quite satisfied with the 0551 I already own.

I hope that there are no clip problems! I've been thinking about picking up several if they come out as awesome as I'm thinking that they will. (One right away, more as they become regularly available.) But a serious clip problem could kill that. Or if someone offered an aftermarket clip, depending on the cost, I might end up only buying one.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I like the clip. The 4x placement option is really great. I might buy 6 extra screws per knife just to fill in the open screw holes. I'm definitely in for the 0777, that is one badass looking knife!

The 4 way clip is a great feature. To me, the clip looks a bit too high off the scale. Needs to be lower profile. Plus, I think the clip should be recessed into scale where the screws attach.

No clip complaints from me. I love the low-rider clip and appreciate the 4 way carry option designed into the handle, though I'm a right pocket, tip-up carrier. I wish all my folder had low-rider clips.

I like the clip. I really like deep pocket carry. Because of the radiused top of the scales, I don't think you can recess the clip into the scale. Instead, you make a flat platform on the curved surface. Remember that these are also just the prototypes and things usually do change from the Prototype stage to the final production stage.

I don't believe that I want three recessed slots that stay empty on the scales of my knife. A nice clip with coined edges will be just fine for me.

Definitely don't like recesses for a clip, I keep getting crap stuck in them on the ones I have with that. That clip could be a bit more "melted" so it doesn't give a giant hot spot in use, but thats what small pieces of titanium, a blow torch, and a vise are for anyway:D

Great looking knife!

I like the clip on the 550 better, it looks nicer with the ZT logo. Also damn why such a big handle with only extra 0.2in in blade form 550?

Hot Damn!! Almost there.

Oh, ok. For some reason I thought that there was doubt about the clip working right in the tip up position. I don't mind it being a low rider. As for big handles, bring it on! I usually have my handles thickened, contoured and some times lengthened. This knife looks like it will be perfect straight outta the box!

I like the lowrider clip. Maybe if anything, decrease the gap a little bit, but it sure looks better than the 0551 clip.

Just think "Spyderco Military" - that extra real estate on the handle makes the knife a joy to use (the Military ayway). :)

In regard to the deep carry clip, maybe they'll get it trimmed down a smidge - from another thread:

Lot's of pre-order talk, so let's update:

All of these new pieces will be making their debut at the Blade Show this week. Usually we take feedback from the show, and potentially make a few changes from their proto stages.

Once dialed in, we let the dealer base know of the products, and orders are taken. So like I said early in the 0560 thread, we're a bit upside down with the information release with these knives.

I would say as of today, 4th quarter would be the time frame for these knives to hit the streets.

All of you favorite ZT outlets will be offering these. Both Hinderer blades will be regular production. Should be no issues getting these at some point.

The 0777 will be a LE, and as you how many we'll produce, it's hard to say. Blade will tell us a lot.

Will keep you posted.

No freaking out needed.

The finger choil is further back on the handle. Even though the blade is only 1/4 longer, it should handle like a larger knife. The ZT0551 moves your hand a bit closer to the cutting edge.

But what do I know? I won't have a real opinion until mine comes in the mail.
