New ZT release 1/12/26

Beefy hard use folders had a long run, it was a trend for a while and everyone wanted a knife that can handle a lifestyle few realistically ever lived--- in would guess people slowly woke up and realize it can be a big pain in the tinker to carry a heavy hard-use folder that barely saw any, well, use. In my opinion a good knife needs to cut well and be on the thinner side, im not trying to cut gulches or valleys into an object

Respectfully, you are doing it wrong. I cut gulches into everything, objects, careers, relationships, etc!

The later gen 303 I had, had a bte that was about half as thick as my early 302. I agree that the overbuilt folders with splitting wedge edges are not that useful, but I do miss the readily available overbuilt folders with good geometry. Having something that has a stout lock and a large, thick blade was great to replace a fixed blade belt knife for hiking/camping, especially in the winter when you have a longer coat on or heavy pack straps for backpacking. Knives like the 301, 200, or 804 were great for such a purpose. Especially with the triad lock patent expiring this year, I'd love to see an overbuilt zt with that locking mechanism and decent geometry.

For me, anticipating a new ZT release is like the anticipation I feel for a woman that I just met & asked out on a date . . .

. . . after which I just end up disappointed & longing for the presence of an old GF instead. 🤷‍♂️

The only difference is that instead of reminiscing about old flames, I can pull out my old ZTs for actual hands-on satisfaction. ;)

LOL!

Have to be honest...a bit of a let down. To call a black 0556 a new drop....ehh. I love mine but don't need 2.
I'll wait for the CF 0203

I really like the look of the 0117, but I don't think it's going to kick the 0707 out of my pocket for EDC. But it looks like the perfect first nice knife for my teenage son.

The 0117 is nice don't get me wrong, but for an ultra light edc the 0545 is great too. What catches my interest more is the new Kershaw Bareknuckle, I like the size.

First miss for me after being on fire with their past few releases. If anyone hasn't got that push button auto in their hands yet and have some interest in it, try it out. The finishing on it feels like a Shirogorov or something in that rare air. Videos do not do it justice. Also love the leather sheath on that Cru Wear fixie they came out with. And the super think blade stock magna cut flipper. Sadly it feels like everyone moved on right when ZT started giving the internet what it was asking for. I still contend the 0470 is an underrated legend.

Total agreement on the 556 auto, the detailed milling is mesmerizing.
