New ZTs on video

Besides the bayonet, the only thing I liked was the Kershaw Talon looking thing. I suppose if I liked it enough, I'd buy one. I'd have to remove the AO and wave it.

I think I can answer that one.

sorry, been having a few drinks.

He's most definitely King of Carpet! ;) :D

I'm really liking what will come out as a result of the feedback from SHOT show.

I like that first fixed blade that was shown in the video... Very affordable and it could just be my 2nd fixed blade. Any idea if that Sandvik steel (14C28) is any good? How is the stain resistance on it? Will it come with a sheathe? The last Knife I had with Sandvik was a Needs Work and that one stained pretty easily; tiny rust spots but easily removed. So far my JYDs have been the only other Kai knives I've owned and they are very good.

The good: ZT is offering some more models without AO.
The bad: Nothing there I want.
The good: I will save money.

Wow, what a disappointment! I love my 300 and 350. They just went from Hummer H1 to Hummer H3 in one year. Even the ressurection of the random task from Kershaw looks bland compared to the original. I hope it is the economy, but Kershaw and Zt have lost me for at least this year. Spyderco here I come.

"This is an old resurrected design from Kershaw... that we've added some S30V steel, so a little high speed steel in there..."

Had no clue that S30V steel was HSS!

I'd really like that 0700 if:

- It wasn't S30V "high speed steel"
- Black coating
- A flipper
- That unnecessary pommel w/ lanyard hole

It's a really slick design... stonewashed 154CM and I'd be all over it...

The coating inhibits rust--never had my Tungsten DLC coated blades rust. Sandvik 14C28N -- I've only heard good things about the steel, and in all of my folders, they perform excellently (great edge retention, very easy to sharpen, etc. Dog of War said that his 13C26 outperformed VG-10)

When you're at these shows, and a camera is all of a sudden stuck in your face, you don't always say everything as accurately and perfectly as you would if you had some prep time and there was less commotion surrounding you. Maybe a little understanding of circumstances may be in order?

Man, the negativity is thick around here. :thumbdn: What the heck?

I agree with the comment above, about the new narrower knives being more attractive than the old stubby look. I've got the 200 and wish I hadn't bought it. It's just too short and thick.
I like the look of the new tanto folder but, judging by how it looked in the presenters hands, the blade is definitely sub 4".

Yeah Thomas, I agree, the negativity is thick around here. I obviously don't like every knife every company makes [ as expressed above] but generally speaking, I like at least some of the products of every knife company I've ever seen. That's the most depressing thing about this forum; so many members seem to be fanatically partisan, and absurdly hostile, towards products and companies they don't like.

I think I like 14C28N as much if not better then VG-10. I think 13C26 preformed as well as VG-10 in cutting ability and edge retention but did lack in corrosion resistance (Which I believe is one of the main upgrades between the two steels)

I think a DLC coated 14C28N fixed blade will make a great knife.

Well, I'm happy you've got some new products headed our way.
Some companies just keep putting out the same ole vanilla knives over and over again.

Yes, I don't understand the negativity either. Those are some nicely designed knives at an attractive price point, IMO and I don't even water at ZT's trough! The 'Bayonet' was a little over the top, but I wouldn't hesitate to pick up the new 'fixed' and folders as they seem to exhibit the same value for the dollar as the Kershaw line.

I like the 0700, looks mean, the 0750 is very cool too, but looks small for a ZT.
cool stuff guys!

hmm i actually really liked all 3 of the folding knives, and will probably buy one of each. the remake of the kershaw talon is my favorite one, that will be an awesome edc.

Reminds me of a famous quote:

"Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?"

Adding breadth to a line-up and bringing back revitalized classics should be cause for excitement and celebration. Don't know where all these "Debby Downers" came from, but wish they'd go back there.
