New “Nail Notch” variants

I like these vs the thumbstud version actually. Just wish it was the torx construction, curious if those will ever get made for areas still with a thumb stud restriction.

I also like the look of these. The one thing holding me back is how well the thumb studs work on my 112 Slim Pro. I had a 110 Slim Pro for a few minutes, but the geometry of the thumb studs didn't work for me so I gave it to my brother. It suits him fine. Horses for courses, I guess. I might try the 110 nail notch. Those Bantams look like an absolute steal. I've given a few of those away in the past, and probably should have kept one.

Would it be worth installing a Kwik stud on one of these? That way you could fiddle with the location to suit your thumb.

That looks like the best of both worlds! My earlier post was unclear. The thumb studs work really well for me on my 112 Slim Pro. It's one of my favorites. I like it so much that I can't really see the need for a nail nick version.

Something about the longer blade on the 110 didn't work for me though. It was probably user error. I might try out your solution on the red 110 Slim Select. I'm also thinking about that orange 286. It's big and ugly. If I got the mossy oak, I'd probably drop it, look around, and run over it with my mower in a couple weeks.

This thread made me stop and think...and then walk over to my dresser and grab my 285 Bantam to check. I guess I took the thumb stud for granted. Now that I think about it, though, I'm not sure I'd want to do without it. So thanks for helping me to save my money! ;)

I might get the spitfire version depending what the BOTM is. Order them in one shot and get free shipping

I just ordered a red 112 Slim Select. I've wanted a Slim Select for quite a while but I personally find a thumb stud awkward to use, so this should be a good way to go for me. (Actually, as a "112 Originalist" I'm not sure that a 112 should have a nail notch either. :D )

They're pretty cool, I just wish that there was a variation of the new 110 Hunter Sport among them, since I'm planning on getting one of those knives and from what I hear the thumb studs are practically useless on that knife anyway.

I wouldn't call the thumbstud useless on the sport. a nail nick version would be neat too though. wouldn't mind one.

I don't own one yet, so I don't know from experience, I just know that folks say that the 110 Sport effectively requires two hands to open comfortably/safely, and unfortunately such has been my experience with the 110 Slim Pro.

112 Slim Select "nail notch" in the hizouse! Centered, tight, solid lockup, no play. Was going to remove the pocket clip but I think I'll give myself some time to see if I like it. BTW, I can open and close both this one and my 112LT with one hand if that's your "thing." 😁 (Haven't cut myself "yet" doing it!)
