I am a newbie to this forum. I have been browsing the threads for a while, and have found the info a wealth of knowledge as well as opinions...lol. I have been into knives for a while, but am catching the bug more & more! That's why I joined to interact with the folks on here! I am still a little skittish to how the site works??? If I have a subject of interest do I just start a thread?

First off welcome!

Most subjects about knives in general work great in general discussion. If it is a question about making knives, a specific brand or off topic then check the other sub forums available. You will get better responses there. No worries though because if you post in the wrong spot a Mod will move it for you if needed. Have fun and fire some questions away.

Don't worry, they won't crucify you if you make a mistake. :)

Read the "I was new here once" thread.

Post your knife reviews, knife questions, knife stories, and have fun. Most of the people on here are nice people. There are one or two bullies that pop in now and again that you can report to the Mod. The basic thing is to be nice, do not use foul language as this is a family place, do not tell off color jokes (clean jokes are okay), and treat people with respect, don't ask for values unless you upgrade your membership, don't sell unless you upgrade, and mention or post links only to Forum supporting dealers (see list).

Welcome aboard! have fun.

You just did... Welcome.

Think of the forum as you asking a friend a question about a mutual interest. Starting a post is like asking your friend a question. Then sometimes you are there to listen and answer question (browsing posts is listening, responding to a thread is answering a friends question)

Posts can be specific, like what do you think of this knife in this steel. Or general, like whats your favorite knife. Jump in and have fun.

...and look at the response your first thread has gotten so far....
Welcome.

Do not bump old threads. Even if the question has been asked or old, create a new thread and ask again.

Oh, and welcome. I'm a noob too, as you can see.

I would like to expand on this a bit if you don't mind.

In your newly created thread, supply the link for the older thread. That way those who wish to help, can glean any previous information they require so they can tailor the response to you personally.

Use the search function wisely.
If you want to know about something specific about a particular benchmade axis lock, search things like Benchmade omega axis
- Doing this will yield results that contain those three terms as opposed to searching for "How prone is an Omega spring in a Benchmade griptilian breaking?".
(The answer is that it doesn't happen that often, so don't sweat it. )

Again, welcome, good luck and don't say we didn't warn you.

Welcome to the forums. Now buy a Benchmade Griptilian and a Spyderco Paramilitary 2 so you can join the argument about which is better! :D
