Newb question, where to post knife handle questions?

I have searched through each heading and sub category but I am unable to find any specific section about knife "handles".

In what category and sub category would I post questions about making bone handles for knives?
 
One more question, I see up under where my profile picture would go a "message" symbol and it says two messages, where would I go to check messages? From what I can tell I have read every possible thing on my profile and I cannot find anything having to do with viewing messages.

P.S.. Okay I think I got it now, while it states "messages" I think it means "alerts" and I get one for each post on my topic, as soon as I posted this message it changed to 3.
