New guy here,

Can you cut 5160 with standard bandsaw? I have been told that it is impossible to cut spring steel, but seems ike its not an issue on this forum.

I need to rip some 2 inch into 7/8 inch widths of about 13 inches long and drill an 1/8 hole. Standard hand and power tools OK?

Thanks
Keith

If it's a metal cutting bandsaw you'll have no problems. If it's in it's hardened state, you may have to anneal it first....depending on your saw. I've still got my cheap little Harbor Freight bandsaw and it cuts truck leaf springs no problem without annealing them.

I just cut a truck leaf spring with my HF bandsaw no problem not sure that it's 5160 :D
