Newbie Fileworker after critique

I never did get around to taking a pic of my files because, well, I'm slack :p

A good example of the sort of files you should use would be something like this:
http://www.shopwiki.com/Starlite+Diamond+Needle+File+Set,+230+Grit,+6+Pc,+5+1/2"+(B000WCC80Q

I'm currently using a set of metal files similar to this, though I plan to upgrade to some diamond files like these very soon. Hope that link helps.

Cool, I have a diamond set just like this, but I've only used the round one so far. -not sure what to do with the others yet, guess I just need to grab some cheep knives and experiment!

@Knifeoutlet - Well once I've decided my work is worthy of it I'll most likely invest in a Dremel. For now I'll wait until Xmas when I get my diamond files and engraving tool and see what kind of crazyness I can create with them combined.

@Bryfry - Yep, i started just trying things out on knives I already had, experimenting with a couple different files and seeing what I could come up with. My SAK is riddled with different patterns on every tool :D
That's the best way to learn imho. Of course I'm almost out of knives I'm willing to practise on already, just finished some work on a Cold Steel Kudu for lack of anything cheaper :p

This is a decent side view of the filework as requested by someone ages ago. Yes, I'm slack and it took me ages to get one up here, sorry for bumping a dead thread :p

Side note: fantastic picture artistically speaking, too bad the "made in China" on both knives ruins it  Much love to my fiancee for the pics.

Soulsmith,

Did you pick up those Starlite diamond needle files we talked about yet? They're not that expensive 5 piece set was $49 plus $5 for a handle. I called the company and they were very courteous. They'll ship to you also.

You could get the whole 5 piece coarse set and 5 pc. fine set $99 and you only need one handle. You can pay for them with one job man.

Looking good man - keep them coming!

Couldn't find anywhere here in Oz that stocked diamond files, so if I get some it'll have to be ordered online... which is a pain in the rear, but I'm sure I'll get around to it eventually. My fiancee bought me a dremel for xmas, so I've been trying it out a lot lately. It's very different
