Hi, I am Mark from Tucson, AZ and I love knives like all of you. I have collected them over the years and now have a great interest in making one. The beauty of the fabricated polished steel and beauty of the handles are calling me to create my own. I have used my knives to hunt and wear in the outdoors. I am very handy in a shop and would really love to meet someone here in Tucson that makes knives to see your operation and get a few tips to get me started in the right direction. If someone is here in Tucson and is open to show and talk I would be grateful. Please let me know. I have been advised to start with a blank from USA Knife Maker and look forward to asking questions and corresponding with all of you as I progress.

I am on the other side of this GREAT country so I won't be any help with a tour. However, I would suggest that you get some steel, a few files, and get to work on one from scratch. I say this as someone who started with blanks from Jantz. Its really just making handles when you do this, not making knives. If you wish to learn to make knives then go for it. There is more good info on this site(and probably others) to keep, people that want to learn, busy for a lifetime. You can do a lot with a angle grinder and a set of files. It really is rewarding when you finish your first knife. Good luck and save the custom search engine address in the stickies. Most questions that you will have have already been answered at some point. Good luck and welcome!
