new to the board and just looking for some info
what kinda a quality is the Ontario RAT RTAK II?
its rat design?
ontario made?

anything and everything well be appreciated

well as the name of the knife implies it is made by ontario. the RAT cutlery knives are "better" IMO. they have a better warranty and can respond to customer input. welcome to the forums by the way.

i knew they were different companies,so rat just gives them the design?

thanks for the welcome

it is a design from when they were making knives for RAT, the two companies have parted ways, but Ontario continues to manufacture RAT's designs, I believe without the rights to do so (please forgive me if that statement is wrong)

when the junglas comes out, well it be hard to get since its new?

Hey man, welcome to the forum.

The RTAK II is a great knife. As was said, the sheathing leaves something to desired but the blade itself is good. I didn't care much for the size and shape of the handle but it did it's job.

I don't think the Junglas will be in short supply, most of the RAT products are fairly easy to aquire even when new.

Rat was once with ontario then broke away to create USA made knives with another company called ROWEN. Rowen now makes RAT knives. The ontario rats are RAT designs, but the RC series (RC3,RC4,RC5,RC6) of knives plus hest and izula are RAT Cutlery.

I'm a big fan of the Rowen made, RAT cutlery, RC knives. I believe they are made better than the Ontario knives.

But to clarify, Ontario makes knives about 60 minutes south of me, in the USA as well. They do ship some work overseas, but the blade in question is US produced.

It's all confusing, but the short answer: wait a week or two and get a Junglas

Once SHOT show starts, is that when the Junglas will be available? Or will there be a waiting period? Will it only be available through RAT Cutlery for the first month or so?

I just want to know when "go time" is.

Thanks

My buddy bought a RTAK II a couple of years ago and I was very impressed with it's performance for its price point. With that being said I have delayed my purchase of one recently because of the new coming Junglas. If the Ontario RTAK II was good, the Junglas will be awesome.

RAT Cutlery craftsmanship is worth the price and wait over the Ontario equivalent IMHO.

Junglas knives are on the shelf waiting ..once again:).... on sheathing. SHould be ready this month sometime or early Feb. Mike

That's good news. I really like the the look of the Junglas. It will be interesting to compare it to the RTAK, RTAK II, and Busse Bushwacker. Those are all similar knives made for the same purposes.

I already have the RTAK II but I'm still going to get the Junglas.
Just because. ;)

I'm waiting on the Junglas but depending on the cost I might still get the RTAK II because it is so dam cheap and I can re-handle it for a few $$. I like the 3D type of handles any way.
